I didn't go out. But I applied for 20 jobs tonight, and I'm having leftover carbonara and cheesy garlic bread. There's a place across the road that makes it, and they use chopped chicken schnitzel instead of bacon (they're Muslim iirc).

Hands down a fantastic place. The Hunger Den on Sydney Road.

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Holy shit 20 jobs.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 6 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I assume applying to 20 jobs online, filling out applications, I've done that it's basically a full time job. You have to fill out different job applications, because employers use different software or formatting for registration. Also tweaking your resume and contact info as well

StudChud@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

And keeping track of the different passwords for each companies careers page - all have to different because I don't trust their cyber security.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

Applicant tracking software is some of the worst for that as well. The same software will use the same URL for each business but require a different password, so there's no way for a password manager to tell the separate logins apart

StudChud@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y

Yeah, online. EthicalJobs, Seek, and Indeed. Mostly contact centre, but also some animal industry jobs.

Have to have a different cover letter for each one, and use two different resumes (one for contact centres, one for animal industry).

I'm tired, boss.

Yes I'm already on Job seeker, have been since I started study last year.

This is to hit my workforce requirements, but I also do need work anyway.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 12 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Alrighty.

Guitar and Helix are packed. Cables rolled and tied up. Extra picks in my wallet, spare strings and a winder in the guitar case.

Leaving here at 6pm. TBH I wanted to bail because Iโ€™m tired but I thought nah fuck it. Itโ€™ll be good just to hang out with some metalcore musos for an evening.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y

StudChud@aussie.zone · 11 pts · 1y (1 reply)

3AM magpies warbling away, couple of wattlebirds too.

It feels a bit magical, the dead of night in the inner city, no trams or trains, no cars. Just the cool, quiet air and warbling echoing up the alleyway.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

I think I was up before any birds around my area, I didn't hear anything except a ute starting up on the morning dog walk. It was foggy so there wasn't much to see either. I did see quite a few dogs taking their owners for a morning stroll in Toorak, but there were many cars, trams and definitely no magic.

Me to client: This thing might happen if we go ahead like this

Client: OK, I understand

the thing happens

Me: The thing has happened

Client: You didn't tell me this might happen!

The satisfaction of forwarding the email proving I am right. Some people have very, very selective memory.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 11 pts · 1y (3 replies)

My husband's work is like this:

Sales rep: Can you do this right now?

Man: No. Send me an email

Sales rep: but it's really important. I need it done now.

Man: The quicker you send me that email the quicker I can get to it.

Duenan@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y (2 replies)

My work is like.

Person: Where is everyone? You're meant to take over from us.

Us: But you're here 10 minutes early, we're not ready.

Person: But we're here.

Us: We told you what time to come.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y (1 reply)

My work is like

Caller: I've got this minor problem that's not really that important

Us: We have two trucks full of people and specialised equipment rushing to you now

Caller: Oh, I don't need anyone to come here, I just wanted some advice

Us: They are coming lights and sirens, they should be there any second

Caller: But I don't.... oh, they're here

Catfish@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

Yes! I feel so silly about calling. Neighbour reappeared btw, hours after my Wibble.

Taleya@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

I have two personal faves, both of which involve the same chain.

On one, they had an issue that caused a missed showing. Absolute screaming disaster. During post mortem they were in full CYA mode, and a manager sent a huge ranting email saying the issue was caused by X which was easily resolvable WHY DIDN'T WE SUGGEST THIS ThIS CoSt ThEm MoNeY and even rocked up to the office demanding the call recording for legal action.

First thing I said in the call was the solution he was ranting about. They didn't do it.

The other was actually I think the same dipshit ranting about limited support on a sunday past 5pm because he couldn't get through and -GASP- had to speak to our american fallover. "If you get a call that takes that long, then make them get a tech out!!"

thing is, I was unavailable because I was dealing with a huge issue for another one of their sites. And immediately after his sookypants rant, we got a huge glowing gushing thankyou from his boss thanking me for sticking with and resolving an issue rather than blowing it off to a service tech who woulda cost them about a thousand bucks just to show up.

Sometimes life is grand.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

Nothing beats the paper trail!!!

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 1y

Back down the beach.

Going back and forth and trying to time it according to what's happening w/ ol' girl, which I haven't really done before like this, has kicked up an unintended issue.

Tomorrow I'll wake up and have nfi where I am lol. It's only for a brief second..

Calls for a rave choon:

Hold up, where am I?

just_kitten@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 1y (2 replies)

My aunt's house has the most delicious ... citrus tree (not sure what hybrid - tastes like a sweet lime, soft peelable orange skin, probably a Rangpur) and I'm having one of those suckers almost every day with hot water and honey and it's just ๐ŸคŒ straight up helth

I want to see Weapons so, so badly ๐Ÿ˜ญ gonna see it on Monday just have to avoid spoilers.

Edit: partners friends msgd and want to get a beer tonight. I'm sending partner (they're his old friends from Perth, they live here now since 2020), because I don't think alcohol is gonna be great for me right now.

Also, they're super successful (doctor and a gov official), and I'm too self-conscious/self-centred and don't feel like I have anything to talk about ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’€

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y

Melbcat knew what was up, she did her excited little tail quiver and quickly dug into the new food.

What a relief. A low phosphate food she finds palatable. Hopefully it slows her kidney disease and prolongs her life.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y (5 replies)

I had to stop at Rockbank and gave in to temptation and ordered McDonalds. Waited 20 minutes to get my order. Apparently they don't know they are supposed to be fast food.

Duenan@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Did it make you sad eating Maccas?

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y

It mostly just made me feel greasy.

MeanElevator@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (2 replies)

What was worse. Rockbank or Macca's?

Or the combination?

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

Difficult to decide. The toilets at Rockbank are a delight. I'm unable to determine if the hand dryer increases drying speed over just waving your hands in the air.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

the best thing about Rockbank used to be the lion park and rocks

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Sent in the footage to the copsโ€ฆ and that dude threw a cigarette butt down on my property (littering) before he stole from my groceries. Didnโ€™t even put it out first so Iโ€™m lucky it didnโ€™t start a fire.

What an entitled trashbag

Edit: Right after posting this the same dillhole walked past scoping my porch and then Melbcatโ€™s food got delivered just after he was gone. Lucky it happened in that order because if he stole her special food there might have been an incident.

I hope something bad happens to him. Cunt.

Taleya@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

have you got one of those "smile, you're on camera" signs up? We've found that while experienced porch pirates don't gaf, the standard paranoid opportunist methead thinks twice

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

The camera is visible and heโ€™s been reported to the cops repeatedly. The cops told me itโ€™s useless to get one.

He doesnโ€™t gaf and steals routinely

The people here are just pieces of shit

Late night last night and a bit annoyed at things so no bike in today. I think the handlebars are still a bit out of alignment from the fall, so I'll start on the bike again next week I swear

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I just went to get ready for bed and was confused to see my pjs were not in their normal spot.

It was not until I had taken off my top and saw it in my hand that I realised this was because I was already wearing them.

anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Earlier this evening I asked my kid if he had seen my glasses. Which were on my face at the time.

That friend group that only invites me sometimes to their get-togethers has yet again not invited me, this time to someoneโ€™s birthday dinner in the group. I think Iโ€™m in again and then Iโ€™m on the out. Maybe they donโ€™t like me, I donโ€™t know. I give up caring.

StudChud@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

I didn't get a good look but I wish Dan Murphy's sold chips. Need to make a 2nd trip after work for them.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y (10 replies)

What about this for an idea? Drive through bottle-o, you can get booze, snacks and your petrol tank filled without leaving your car.

If someone wants to make this happen, I'll cheer you on.

Duenan@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

And not at inflated prices either, I'd be so all over that!

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y

All competitive prices of course.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (3 replies)

I think there also needs to be a parcel pickup/dropoff hub. Plus there needs to be an option to either drive through, or to drop the car for a wash - you could have a cafe and small store, then by the time you're finished the car is clean, refuelled and filled with your purchases and deliveries.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

I think there also needs to be a parcel pickup/dropoff hub.

It's called a post office.

These also exist.

I once had a business idea where you could order a package containing one or two squares of special brownie plus a bunch of normal baked goods to sate the munchies after.

I do not partake or break the law. I just think that having an entire pan of special brownies sitting there after eating the first is playing a dangerous game.

A talented baker could make good money with a side hustle like that

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (2 replies)

๐Ÿ‘€ That could be a game 3 "special" brownies and 3 placebos.

I actually had this idea for YL's birthday. When I was making drinks I was gonna make one a donkey but I decided not to.
