What the fuck are they doing? I feel like Europe is constantly talking about how they are worried about the influence of the US and the big American companies and how they want to be more independent. And then every now and then they pull shit like this....

Europe is not a single person, neither is any state or institution. They are more the confluence of streams of interests, that might look completely different upstream.

"All your data can be investigated by a corrupt, fascist regime. "

"Nice, here's more of it!"

What could possibly go wrong?

Why on earth not choose Hetzner?

Tiger_Man_@szmer.info · 14 pts · 359d (3 replies)

Hetzner would be equally bad idea because sensitive data should be selfhosted and inaccessible to any corporation

SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social · 8 pts · 359d

And not only is it easily possible to set up your own, private cloud on your own metal with open source software, this software is at least partially funded WITH DUCKING EU MONEY, WHAT THE DUCK?

FleischMicha@feddit.org · 7 pts · 359d

I would not say equally bad, but you do have a point

CAVOK@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 358d

Not a bad fit for government data though. I think they should focus on other things than running datacenters.
