I wish big tech had stayed on the peninsula and south bay. When I came to San Jose, most folks said SF was a place to play, San Jose was a place to work. Those were great days. Now too many techies work in SF and play … I guess somewhere else, if they even have time to play after their grind.
Where is this money coming from? VC's sure as hell don't want their companies spending big. Billionairs obviously won't spend money on anything other than buying elections. Normal people have no money to spend on AI. So … what is the revenue stream? Don't tell me it's ads.
As a previously poor person, more poor people need to realize where they stand tax-wise, and that they are the beneficiaries of tax increases. But also, tax the fucking rich! The 50's had 91% tax on the highest tax bracket. That's what made the golden days that conservatives want to return to so golden.

The unity is actually refreshing, pretty much everybody is talking about going to city counsel meetings to speak up about how we don't want datacenters in our area.
The hospital thing is a big one. My wife and I had considered moving to a remote location but the risk of significant injury without nearby medical facilities was one thing that changed our mind. It's hard to accept that risk, even when you think it would probably be worth it. Medical problems ƒ suck.
