I recently read The Cairo Trilogy by Naguib Mahfouz and it was excellent.

Bryce Courtenay - The Power of One was my favourite.

Binti series by Nnedi Okorafor

I love Mia Couto books, he really can mesh the fantastic and the real very well. Give a read in Sleepwalking Land whenever you can!
