We don’t need to tax ourselves. The boycott is working. Let people who can’t afford much have cheaper groceries. Even if it means they buy US products. Let’s keep boycotting. It’s putting a lot more pressure on the USA than any tariffs here would.
It would be far better for Canada to completely sever all economic and military ties with the USA. If people don't have enough to live, the solution to that is to give them enough to live off of, not kowtow to that fatuous bald-headed jackass Down South.
Build up ties with Europe. With South America. With Asia. With Africa. And cut the USA out of our lives entirely.
