Im assuming this is a reference to someone but I don't care about rich people enough to know about whom it is

Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 350d (4 replies)

Taylor Swift. I only know because my gf won't shut up about it.

idiomaddict@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 350d (1 reply)

She might be trying to drop a hint. She might also just be a swiftie.

Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 350d

She did say a month or two ago that she keeps having dreams of me proposing to her.

But anytime I seriously entertain the idea she says we're still too young and we need to finish uni first.

I tend to agree with her 23 is too young to marry.

Oh damn, I thought this was about the Amazon CEO and his recent Venice wedding, which got a lot of protests.

dohpaz42@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 350d

Them too. Fuck Bezos.

darkdemize@sh.itjust.works · 20 pts · 350d (9 replies)

You cared enough to make a meme about it. Just saying.

tfm@piefed.europe.pub · 10 pts · 350d (1 reply)

I cared enough to copy and paste it from Reddit. Thought it was funny and that it should be in the Fediverse.

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 350d

They cannot comprehend the idea of words not being 100% literal. It was just so hard to understand that your meaning was "I would've never cared that they're engaged but now that I keep hearing about it, it's annoying"

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 350d (6 replies)

Why do people do this? "I don't care about" typically means "I have no positive feelings toward" yet some smartass always thinks they have a gotcha with "You cared enough to respond!"

OP is so burned. I mean, they expressed an annoyance by using words you could cram a crowbar in between. Great job darcDeth!

glimse@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 350d (5 replies)

But...nobody asked OP what their opinion is on the marriage...and most people here already don't care.

They went out of their way to "make" a meme to announce how little they care. They are not frolicking carefree in an Austrian field, they are totally stewing over it lol

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 350d (4 replies)

Ah so you're one of these people..

It's not hard. It is annoying to keep hearing about something you don't care about. Posting about that doesn't prove he actually cares that some billionaire is getting married for one of several times.

glimse@lemmy.world · -5 pts · 350d (3 replies)

Forget about the caring vs disliking part, the fact is basically no one on Lemmy was talking about it until this post.

"I'm so tired of hearing about Celebrity that I shall add to the discourse on Celebrity by starting a thread with a crappy meme"

If it was an actually funny meme it'd be a different story but this incredibly popular opinion isn't even accompanied with a joke

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 350d (2 replies)

In my feed there was another post about it 2 posts down. But even if there wasn't, I don't get your point. They can express annoyance on an open platform without anyone's permission or blessing

glimse@lemmy.world · -2 pts · 350d (1 reply)

I don't think they need my permission or blessing, I just think the post sucks lol

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 350d

I also find celebrity news annoying so I smirked

oxysis@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 18 pts · 350d (9 replies)

Same, also fuck Taylor Swift over her carbon footprint

neidu3@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 350d

It took until reading this comment before I learned that Taylor Swift is most likely one of the people.

tfm@piefed.europe.pub · 2 pts · 350d (7 replies)

Basically this

oxysis@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 7 pts · 350d

She still flies from one side of a city to the other side of the same city

KindnessisPunk@piefed.ca · 3 pts · 350d (3 replies)

The carbon footprint is propaganda, but billionaires do emit insane amounts of greenhouse gasses, more in 90 minutes than the average person in their lifetime. Same with private air-travel, it should be illegal given the current climate crisis.

tfm@piefed.europe.pub · 6 pts · 350d (2 replies)

Not just that. They are also mostly responsible for deregulation which is harming our environment, extreme and wasteful consumerism, and so much more.

They are basically cancer to society.

grue@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 350d (1 reply)

In general yes, but singers are much less culpable for it than corporate executives.

tfm@piefed.europe.pub · 1 pts · 349d

Billionaires are billionaires. They are all crap

Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 350d

The only reason I know about it if from the comments on this meme

iAvicenna@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 350d

except when they land 90 jets where you live

tatann@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 350d

Or this could be you at the wedding

glimse@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 350d

So brave

Lawelen@fedia.io · 3 pts · 350d

Our ruzzian opposition "news" site calls that "happiest day of this year". Bleh. That's why I mostly hear news about my country here, on Lemmy.
