He believes in an ancient dogma that still advocates for cutting off the foreskins of newborn males so they can't enjoy sex as much as an adult.
It was time to renounce his faith the moment he learned about it, as is the case for all major religions.

I see the ignorance is of the wilful variety. You don't know what he believes. You're constructing a transparent narrative for your own emotional needs.
