"Just" move to a country that isn't so collectively insane and misguided, idk. If people cross the Mediterranean on boats to seek shelter and a better life, why would it be so unthinkable for y'all?
There's charter schools, but that's really just a scam to get taxpayer money directly into special interests who have control over curriculum, admissions, staffing, and of course everything else that goes with running a for-profit business, often with little to no oversight, accountability, or transparency.
Insane that conservatives, of all people, cherish them so much. But it makes sense. The conservative small government agenda is a smokescreen. All they care about is exerting direct control over people they don't like and protecting the ones they do.
These christofascist types think a woman's place is in the home, not at work. Women should be barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen.
And the women are totally okay with it because they've been conditioned since birth that when they become an adult the most important thing they can do is be a quiet little obedient baby factory for their husband.
How much do they need to teach, themselves, anyway? All the important stuff is taught at Sunday School. Take the kids to the zoo a couple of times a year. Boom, homeschooled. Not like anybody is checking.
Remember, good Christian women don't go to college to get a good job. They go because they weren't pregnant/married by 18. Without a good job, and with a perpetual series of babies, SAHM-ing is cheaper than daycare.

check k12.com many states have free at home school options that use the states curriculum. An adult functions as the 'learning coach' to make sure the child stays on task and they mail you the books and other school supplies. Lessons are online with state accredited teachers and they give you a laptop if you need it. they get the same diploma as kids who attend in person school. my state has a few options like this.
the learning coach stuff only takes a couple hours no reason you couldn't do it in the evening if you had toπ€·πΌββοΈ don't understand how this is the 'opposite of free' but ok.
obviously we should make schools safe but if you can't go to school for whatever reason there are viable alternatives.

Someone who thinks the plural of 'kid' is 'kid's' clearly underestimates the societal value of a decent education

Homeschooling.
Co-op schooling.

Homeschooling requires a parent to stay at home and play teacher instead of earning an income. That is the opposite of free.

Having seen hundreds of homeschooled children, and their lack of common knowledge, in my life I fully approve of the "play" teacher part.
jlow@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 343d
I thought about home schooling as well but I'd argue that it's not free as the parents need to at least spent some time "teaching" the child?

You can learn a lot in the mines.

I thought the woke activists banned children from the mines because the "poor babies" might get "hurt". We need to stop coddling people. /s
