If she wants to leave Canada she can always just move and leave Alberta.

University of Alberta constitutional law professor Eric Adams said Friday it's not clear what Alberta is seeking through legislation, given the Constitution already grants provinces some control over implementing agreements that involve areas of provincial jurisdiction.

She's not seeking anything from this. This is the Alberta separation referendum all over again. Things are being run into the ground and she needs to keep people talking about something because she's increasingly unpopular now that Trudeau can't be blamed for their problems.

I hate it here.

They realized years ago that their agenda is best implemented at the provincial level because they could just defund things they didn’t like. Kenny moved from federal to provincial for that reason.

So leave. I did, but only after Alberta ate 27 years of my life. BC is a paradise compared to that armpit of a province. We (well me personally at least) would welcome more measured perspectives like the one you're espousing.

I don't care if it costs more here; it's better here.

She's not "considering," she's planning. Which means she'll ram it through against the will of Albertans.

Well it’s not that easy but yeah.

I think we can summarize a good 50-70% of all news coming out of Alberta as "Alberta considers continuing to be an instigator and fomenter of seditionist and extremist political views regarding the unity of our country." sigh

All of who? Alberta? There is a massive amount of people in Alberta who hate this bitch. She only barely won the last election and she would probably loose if the election were today. She is only doing this shit because she knows she has a few years before the next vote

Feels like this is probably aimed at climate agreements, but it’s similar to the 'sovereignty act', intended to grant broad powers without saying exactly what the law would change.

This kind of law only creates more legal uncertainty (bad for business as well!) and wastes money on court fights, when we could be doing something constructive. Like paying teachers to educate our children.

So, in other words, she wants to be able to "opt-out" of international pandemic response policies? Like, if Canada agrees to quarantine the country along with other WHO members, Alberta would have the authority to violate that quarantine agreement, and just go spreading disease with impunity?

Is she really that stupid? She's going to get a lot of people killed, if there's ever another pandemic.

I don’t think she can pull it off though, she doesn’t have that much power to unilaterally change laws. Correct me if I’m wrong.

She wants to be like Trump.
