I really do not think that would be to much for the people who have been able to come to Lemmy to do, we are obviously on the right side of the bell curve, I will say that as I do not like the concept of IQ!
The only Google service I still use is youtube but I have ads blocked via the Unwatched app on my iPad or iPhone. Sure maybe Apple is trying to watch me, but I VPN back into my LAN with pihole running and all the location services turned off. In a year or two I plan on getting a new motorola phone as it will be able to have Graphin installed on it. I am really debating on what I want to do with replacing my ipad as I want something I can put a touch version of Debian on.
I have a suggestion, but be careful it is not for the faint of heart, self hosting! Why is it not for the faint of heart? Because you will start with the goal of doing one thing and than that one thing will turn into 2 things than another and another. I have been wanting to get a better self hosted file thing than nextcloud because it tries to do to much so it fails at almost everything but I have found the services I am using all seem to do a good job at replacing it. I have been meaning to find something better at saving files but most of my stuff gets sorted into its own service now.
I would highly suggest getting your own domain name from a host that offers email with a wildcard function, if you do not want to pull your hair out do not try self hosting your own email I found and seems to be the general feeling on the self hosted Lemmy group I am in.
I understand using Youtube, but once Gaurd the Leaf had a following he did not need to go to discord or substack. There are other options, and I am sure the following he has would have been happy to go to say Matrix, and give it a try. Rather than substack he could have either hosted his own or got a .ca domain hosted elsewhere (I am a fan of easyDNS right now).
I wanna say it was near the end of Trump’s first term I moved my domain to a .ca TLD, I have almost stopped using all US social media reading the occasional reddit post but not signing in. I have moved to the fediverse away from Facebook, and I had a twitter account but that is gone now!
I like Guard the Leaf, I do but the fact that he chose discord over something else was a lttle much for me, and that he is using substack rather than a Canadian platform is a little iffy as well.

If Moe couldn’t be paid off with alcohol I would be all for them needing to put a CANDU reactor in and creating a uranium upgrading centre here in Saskatchewan, where a lot of the uranium is mined.

Or if I really wanted to I could go to my homelab and turn on my 2014 Mac mini with Debian running on it and use that for now I will have to continue using nano and pages. I saw a post on Lemmy about it and I broke to go there and make a complaint, I do not use google maps.
