War is very expensive and the reserves Russia set aside for that war ran out some time ago. Meanwhile Ukraine keeps blasting their refineries faster than they can be repaired, and this is going fast. 17% capacity was gone end of August. Now it's near 40%. Russia is planning for importing fuel these days to keep as much as possible running. Meanwhile they're exporting crude oil and making a lot less money from that.

Pretty much this. Since Ukraine is blasting the refineries more and more people are out of gas. The scenery in southwest Russia where people can’t buy gas is kinda hilarious tho.
And now that the orange fuck has decided to help Ukraine (until his next fit), US intel will help Ukraine even more. Things will only get worse for Russia from now on. People are already publicly talking about Putin resigning.
Can’t wait for him to finally get gaddafied. Let’s hope the next guy isn’t as psychotic as him.

You could replace Russia with USA and Kremlin with Whitehouse and it would still make sense.

In what way. Please elaborate.

Just the way that this would make sense to me.

what war?
Wrufieotnak@feddit.org · 5 pts · 334d
Either the Israeli genocide in Gaza or the seemingly coming war in Venezuela. Or the war they wage on their own population. Probably that last one. Didn't trump say: let's train our troops in our cities? I mean the USA were never really short on unjustified wars they started. Currently is a bit of a pause, admittedly.

none of those are wars.

The US has been in a war/conflict 93% of its 249 years existence. They're always at war.
GreenKnight23@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 334d
conflict is not war.

Foreign wars that US tax dollars pay for:
Demostic wars that US tax dollars pay for:
Note: these are not just semantics. The word "war" was chosen by leaders to facilitate policy changes like increased militarization of police, creation of entire departments, and loss of US citizen freedoms.
Personally, I think the word war is synonymous with the military industrial complex. It is a self propecuating cycle of harm.

Ukraine is a sovereign nation and is supported by its allies. allies have not declared war against Russia -- not a war
Israel is a sovereign nation and is taking action against a perceived threat against its government (false IMO but 🤷) -- not a war
the rest aren't wars, they are political movements sold to the American public under the guise of better protection but in reality is the establishment of a police state nation.
war is war. none of what you said is a war. words are important. don't perpetuate the invalidation of the word "war" by continuing the misuse of the word they have instigated.

I couldn't disagree more on the rest of your points. You seem so focused on semantics that you can't see the obvious. Also, if we are going to base everything on semantics, if the commander in chief declares something a war, then it is one.
US tax dollars are being used for these activities, no matter if you support them or not. And in some cases (more specifically the domestic ones) they are a net negative on GDP.

I can't discuss this with you because you're clearly not understanding what a war is.
that's fine though, you be ignorant and make a fool out of yourself. no skin off my back.

There is none. They are talking out of their asses. Watch them start ignoring every comment as soon as they are called out.

Couldn't happen to a shittier country. Well, it would be lovely to see a similar story regarding Israel.

What exactly is Russia ? Russia is a gas station with nukes.
Luckily, they can count on millions of car-addicts and millions of plastic bottle addicts around the world.
If we reduced car dependency and encouraged people to use glass bottles, the price of oil would crash and Russia would feel pain.

Russia is a gas station that has started to run out of gas, they're importing refined petroleum now.
