That whole image looks like they just took a poster from 1930s Germany. The style looks just like the posters did in history class 🙃

This sort of realistic depiction of idealized subject matter was popular worldwide during the mid -20th century. It's a style associated with propaganda posters, but also with Norman Rockwell Americana.

Context?

Its a style that can trace its origins back to the "Muscular Christianity" movement, which itself is the origin of modern toxic masculinity.

Usually masculinity movements are pushed hard in anticipation of war. Curious that Rogan, Tate, Peterson et al. have reached fairly widespread popularity among young men and adolescents at this particular time in history.

Of course, this could be a side effect of instability in society but one has to wonder.

I found a boat load of nonsense on that page, but, not this poster. Can anyone confirm this.

SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world · 31 pts · 349d (4 replies)

The issue with the poster is it's based on literal Nazi propaganda.

Also Americans don't call America their "homeland" "motherland" "fatherland" or any of that shit, that wording is uncommon in the US and intentional as a Nazi dogwhistle

snooggums@piefed.world · 23 pts · 349d (2 replies)

We don't call it the homeland, but regressive have been trying their hardest to get us to with the most obvious reminder being the Department of Homeland Security which was named in 2002.

MutilationWave@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 6 pts · 348d (1 reply)

When Bush announced the creation of that department I was 18 years old. I remember thinking it was dystopian at the time.

snooggums@piefed.world · 4 pts · 348d

Naming a department in a country founded by immigrants using a term reminiscent of terminology used by nazis that they celebrated defeating about 50 years prior as part of a nationalist propaganda movement certainly was a thing.

SpacePanda@mander.xyz · 12 pts · 349d

I know this, I was looking for confirmation they posted the other picture. Idk I'm really hoping they didnt. I am aware of German history especially that part. Thank you though.

Oyml77@lemmy.today · 19 pts · 349d (3 replies)

It was definitely posted to the department's Instagram.

He should have his shirt off. I think MAGA underestimates the pull of homoerotic content amongst their fans. All those poor repressed conservatives men just dying to fondle Old Man's Saggy Sack

shawn1122@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 348d

How close are we to Republicans making a 'bring back pederasty' poster? It was a practice of their favorite empire after all.

What's Nazi about it? It's pretty clear AI slop though.

MithranArkanere@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 348d

They are using the word "Homeland" instead of "Fatherland", but it's pretty common nazi imagery nonetheless.

Because it's based on the core principal of exploiting an endless frontier of personal sovereignty through pastoral expansion.

Skullgrid@lemmy.world · -14 pts · 349d (7 replies)

Is there something wrong with the program itself?

Yeah the wording/poster is a bit cringe but jobs for young people seem good.

cubism_pitta@lemmy.world · 36 pts · 349d (3 replies)

Programs that help people seek employment are of course good.

The wording of "Build your homeland's future" in a silo is cringey.

However, with the current wave of ultra nationalism and the government pushing to "protect" the homeland from "foreign invaders" cringey is not the most accurate term.

Its a bit like calling molten steel "hot"

Mirshe@lemmy.world · 23 pts · 349d (1 reply)

Especially since their ICE recruitment media IS ACTUALLY saying "protect your homeland" or thereabouts.

Korhaka@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 348d

Protect your home, ice an ICE officer

Skullgrid@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 349d

I didn't want to use "resembling nazi propagada" since it's just a generic guy in front of map, so I went a bit too far in the opposite direction with "cringe".

chiliedogg@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 349d (1 reply)

They cut the Job Corps because those taking advantage of the program weren't white enough.

A bit cringe? Me son, this is straight up Nazi/Soviet Union propaganda materiel.
