She got into something today and was shitting liquid. She is thirsty but vomits it up pretty much immediately. I'm so scared.

I had to take my pupper to the emergency vet not long ago becaue he got into something and was puking constantly. It was expensive but ultimately they didn't find anything and he is fine. Here's hoping you have similar news.

I really hope she doesn't need surgery. My partner's dog had a corn cob stuck in his gut and it was like $4,500 to fix. I don't have that kind of money, and I can't even finance that. I'm scared I'm going to have to have her put down tonight.

Having raised and fostered a ton of dogs, a lot of the time they just really, really love to scare us. Oftentimes they will vomit because they've vomited so much they've made themselves overly sensitive. Definitely good to be at the vet, but I hope that can give you a little calm while you wait... Though I know it won't. Poor little pupper. Give us an update if you can, I'm praying for her

We made it home safe and sound. I made an update post.

Sometimes the lining of their stomach is too irritated to stop throwing up. Strong anti nausea meds, a look around via Xray or otherwise to make sure there isn't anything that needs to be surgically removed, and tons of intravenous fluids can fix them right up. Scary and costly, but Callie will likely be ok. Sending good vibes to yall!

I hope that's the case. The waiting is the worst part though. I've been here for almost two hours waiting to be seen and my mind is going to every worst case scenario. Thanks for the good vibes.

I saw you made an update and I'm glad your dog is well!

Before I read the comments, I spent forever examining the floor to determine what was wrong with it. My initial theory was that you felt the pattern on the floor hid your dog.

I had to take my dog to the emergency vet once; she fell off the side of some unsafe stairs and hurt her leg. They didn't end up seeing her for a while. Eventually my wife noticed and pointed out a sign that said "Lame dogs will be seen last," which explained the wait.

I appreciate the forward nature of that sign and that it explained the wait, but in our very tired state, we briefly really thought it meant "if your dog ain't cool, we're bringing them in last." Fortunately, even when in pain, our dog was very cool.

I laughed out loud internally twice. Thank you.

My pleasure!

Yeah, dogs don't feel pain like we do. Thank you for the kind words.

Callie is so pretty!

I hope you both feel better soon, that's a scary visit to make.

Callie looks very beautiful. Please keep us up to date?

Thanks, and yeah, I made an update. TL;DR: just pancreatitis, 1lb of sugar in one sitting = bad.

Hope everything is alright.

So good to hear! Emergency vet visits are so scary and stressful, for everyone involved

iamdefinitelyoverthirteen@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 332d

It was kinda funny, she kept trying to herd me to the door so that we could leave. It was cute, but sad at the same time. She definitely wanted to go home to the comfy bed haha.
