Whenever my friends tell me about Vegas .... I just tell them that if they ever feel like visiting this place, it's probably cheaper to just send the city $50. and not bother going.

Vegas is actually super cheap and fun as long as you don’t like gambling or strippers or popular shows. All of which I hate going to. I liked Vegas a lot last time I went.

Vegas used to be fun when you brought along a gambling addict family member so you could get all the buffet deals and ride tickets at Circus Circus while they gambled at treasure island instead of gambling in mississippi and the rest of the family could enjoy $15 prime rib cuts.

I... may not have had the best childhood.

I just play video poker at the bar and make sure I'm getting my drinks refilled regularly. Tip well and they dont care how much youre betting. Doesnt matter if I'm losing, cause I'm still paying less for drinks than if I went anywhere else!

What else is there?

Cruxifux@feddit.nl · 19 pts · 329d (3 replies)

Well I went and watched battle bots live for 30 bucks, went to omegamart, went to a free punk rock show, checked out a couple bars that weren’t on the strip, did some jogging around. I’ve heard you can go to Area 51 pretty easily too, and there were some cheap beer tasting tours and art things that im going to check out next time I go.

Bonesince1997@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 329d

Ah. Good to know about stuff other than what everyone usually thinks of when they think of Vegas. Thanks for sharing!

Agent641@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 329d (1 reply)

Omegamart? The cursed liminal supermarket?

Cruxifux@feddit.nl · 1 pts · 328d

Yes.

Mob museum is pretty cool

This is how I do my vegas trips (usually work related) it's just the food is insanely priced even if you don't do the normal Vegas stuff.

Cruxifux@feddit.nl · 8 pts · 329d (4 replies)

Last time I went I just jogged to a convenience store and got whatever hot food was there and it was cheap as fuck and so good. I understood why Americans are such fat fucks at that point.

krooklochurm@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 328d (3 replies)

The ready to eat meals at all the corner stores in Japan are very good indicators of why this is the case too. So many healthy options. It's insane.

Also lots of absolute garbage but the option is nice.

Cruxifux@feddit.nl · 3 pts · 328d (2 replies)

Yeah. I mean even in Canada we have like fruits and veggies and hard boiled eggs and meats at our corner stores if you want a healthier option for quick. But we aren’t THAT much better than the states, although it is noticeable when you go there.

krooklochurm@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 328d (1 reply)

We do? I've never noticed hahahahaha

Cruxifux@feddit.nl · 1 pts · 328d

Sometimes ya kind of gotta look for em but they’re there at like every one in Alberta. I do some pretty hardcore calorie counting so maybe I notice more than others.

priapus@piefed.social · 3 pts · 329d (1 reply)

The food is crazy expensive on the strip, but theres some good cheap stuff elsewhere. Fremont has some good stuff, my favorites were Binion's Cafe and Tacos and Miches.

Gerudo@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 329d

Fremont makes Vegas semi affordable for real

VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 13 pts · 329d

That's kinda true of almost any place. Still, I get not wanting to go to Vegas, it sucks.

Rooskie91@discuss.online · 9 pts · 329d

Was this post written by someone who was salty they didn't get invited to Vegas?

dick_fineman@discuss.online · 4 pts · 329d

Eh, I've been to AC. Same difference. Vegas has the sphere, AC has junkies in alleys...both can be entertaining in their own ways, and cost about the same.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 328d

vegas cant handle it, because they have no money.
