You're overthinking it. Think of the food buffalo chicken and which animal would make this. It's still the same outcome, but if the food was called chicken buffalo for some reason then it'd still be the top.
Gotta be the first one. Because as we all know, buffalos have wild wings! Thats why they call it buffalo wild wings! The second one doesn't have ANY wings, much less wild ones!
Come back when the second one develops some wild wings!

I'm going to base this on the owl bear because I feel like it.
so my now made up rule is for animals merged like this the first animal is the modifier and the second is the base.
therefore it is a chicken with a buffalo look, not a buffalo with a chicken look.
real life reference: a whale shark is a shark that looks like a whale, not a whale that looks like a shark

I... have no arguments to propose. Guess this is what we're doing now.

I have no rational argument, but it feels like buffalo chicken is the top one. The bottom is a chicken buffalo.

I agree.

Of course it’s the top one, because that’s the only one with wings, and those are the part that we eat.

Buffalo cock...
Davel23@fedia.io · 5 pts · 336d
The first, obviously. Where else would buffalo wings come from?

I personally feel like it's the bottom. Unfortunate for us, but it is what it is.

In German, the word for scaredy-cat is "Angsthase", a scaredy-bunny so to say. It rhymes pretty well with "Axthase", an axe-bunny.
Anyway, the Axthase:

Top one. Dare I say obviously the top one.

Only people who have never had buffalo wings before are confused by this.
JackbyDev@programming.dev · 1 pts · 336d
Bottom one doesn't even have wings. Which is a super common way to illustrate it. It would've been a more interesting discussion of it did.

Hopefully the Top one
Bottom one would be nightmare fuel as it enacts t-rex ancestor rage on us all

I prefer the top one
