Then just get F1TV via another country is very easy to do if you have an iOS device. I have subscribed to F1TV with an Indian Apple account and only pay around 40 Euro for Premium.
Unfortunately can’t be done via the F1TV website or Google Play Store. Since you would need a credit card or bank account from that country.
You probably need VPN to use the service though since it isn’t available anymore in your country. Not entirely sure about that since F1TV is available where I am watching it from.
In Germany this happened a few years ago too. Sky probably spent a ton of money, so they could get exclusive rights. Free TV only can broadcast a few races, instead of all and we couldn't subscribe to F1TV any more. Oh and Sky increased the prices by a lot.
F1 TV is $95 a year, Apple TV is $99 if you pay in advance, or $13/mo. So pretty similar actually. Although that's current pricing, Apple has 3 months to bump the price or something shitty like that. F1 TV only worked on like 3 devices, one of which was Apple TV. This might actually improve their Linux compatibility if it's now using Apple infrastructure.
Not a fan of centralizing content, but this doesn't look too bad for 2026.
logout of “Media and Purchases” in your Apple account settings in the iOS settings
login with the Indian account
go to the AppStore to redeem the credit
use an Indian address you can find on Google maps
go to the F1TV app and subscribe
if the subscribe options doesn’t show up. You need to use a VPN to the UK. PrivadoVPN has a free tier
you need to sub to the monthly TV Access tier and then upgrade to Pro or Premium in the iOS settings where you manage the subscriptions.
Edit: here is proof that it works. This is my sub to F1TV, I don’t live in India and my iPhone is registered to a Dutch Apple account yet I’ve only paid 3649 INR which is 42 USD for Premium.
It’s not if you’re paying monthly. I swear everyone likes to just complain. Sure big company bad but I don’t know why everyone is so mad about Apple having the streaming rights
If my costs go up, then I have a right to complain.
I'm really just trying to figure out how I am supposed to watch F1 in the future. I have until August of next year to find out if it is worth it to sign up for AppleTV to continue watching F1.
A simple DuckDuckGo search would tell you want you need to know… although I did already tell you. Mostly I was referring to the many people saying “time for piracy” when I don’t understand how espn is any different/better than Apple except that their app is absolute fucking dogshit

I already wrote a comment on how to do it: https://lemmy.world/comment/20005259

One big thing is that the subscriptions don‘t renew in the vsa. In Germany they still do renew

My guess would be ESPN is taking over streaming in the US.
Jozav@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 322d

So am I going to have to subscribe to AppleTV then? That has to be more than the cost of F1 Premium.

If you have an iPad or an iPhone it is very easy to get F1TV for much cheaper via an Indian Apple account.
Edit: here is proof that it works. This is my sub to F1TV, I don’t live in India and my iPhone is registered to a Dutch Apple account yet I’ve only paid 3649 INR which is 42 USD for Premium.
