And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”

If you super glued the pages of a bible shut and gave the book to your average Nationalist American Christian .... they'd never notice.

I haven't been able to find anything about this online and, to be honest, it sounds like an exaggerated claim. How do you know this and are you saying that almost every single Bible in the church was a prop?

I recently had to tell my dad we're not going to be seeing him anymore because of the hateful things he says and posts about the people I love.

My sister mentioned in a letter how his opinions on immigrants is counter to everything the Bible says on the subject, and here was his response:

Immigrants -I've never had any issues with immigrants. I have worked with and befriended many, many immigrants. It's illegals that I have an issue with. They are breaking the law and shouldn't be in this country. Try going to almost any other country in the world to live and work without the proper papers. They will not let you. This is only an "issue" here because Democrats want to capture them as voters.

Just pure Republican brainrot and bigotry.

And his opinions on immigrants was one of the less hateful things he regularly pontificates about. I just can't take it anymore.

Yep, and if you press them on the importance of applying "The Law" impassionately to politicians and the wealthy--for example, a certain 38-time felon--you very quickly run into the cliche about "in groups who the law protects but does not bind, and out groups who the law binds but does not protect".

I wonder if questioning why they place man's law above God's law would get you anywhere. Probably not, since it's not coming from a place of reasoned thought to begin with.

There's nothing I can say that will get through to him, so I've given up trying.

He's part of a cult (a fundamentalist sect of Christianity) that confirms all of his bigotry and tells him that his word has the power of law over his family simply because he's the paterfamilias.

I know the word is overused, but he's quite literally a narcissist; I've never had a conversation with the man where he will even consider an opinion other than the one he already holds.

"Eh, I just need to ask and I'll be forgiven" is the Christian Nationalist creed.

American Christians don't read much less read the Bible.

29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ 36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” 37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
