A completely useful compulsion I have.

This is a real thing I do. It feels weird if the weight of the carton isn't evenly balanced when I take it from the fridge.

That's just smart for balance reasons.

Yep! Nothing worse than picking up an unbalanced carton of eggs and having it tip over only to dump all the eggs on the floor! Splat!

Which egg does he take next

I would take middle left. Or maybe rearrange

RebekahWSD@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 311d

I'd take the two middle to keep the weight even on the ends.

Always take the ones from the corners first, keeping it balanced, avoids catastrophic breaks if dropped.

I should get that diagnosis.

Why have I not thought of this before, it is brilliant.

It's safer for them to be balanced. I do this too.

Not every time, but I have used another egg to keep the carton balanced

I prefer to take the eggs from one side and put the "empty/light" side into the back of the fridge so every time I grab it it's closer to the center of balance.

If I placed the carton into the fridge with the long edge to the back... Not sure what I'd do. Never occurred for me to put it in that way.
