I’m sure the police will notice that crime suddenly only happens when it rains.
muffedtrims@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 292d
They probably didn't spring for the 6k clear coat.
Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 291d
Does it rain in Vegas though? Sorry, never been there.
AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 291d
Not frequently, but when it does it causes flash flooding frequently, just like other deserts.

Thank you!

How long till their batteries explode?
dalekcaan@feddit.nl · 7 pts · 292d
Depends, when's it supposed to rain?

Imagine being a cop, doing your best To Serve and Protect impression, only to have your car lock you inside and incinerate you, at a time of its choosing.
planish@sh.itjust.works · 14 pts · 292d
Or at a time of the choosing of the one rich dude who has root on all the cars.
reddig33@lemmy.world · 38 pts · 292d
I hope these were donated.
CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social · 46 pts · 292d
Donating cybertrucks almost feels like a way to sabotage the police. Almost.

They were (I messed up posting and didn't link to the article which explains this)

This is straight out of Reno 911

Wow did US police learn nothing with the Explody Crown Vics? Gonna be hilarious when these guys fall apart during a chase. The "perp" will just need to drive through a puddle.
blackbelt352@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 292d
Was the crown vic explody? I know the Pinto was because of how the gas tank was built, and the Crown Vic had a bunch of recalls because it was just stress tested that much by nature of being commonly used by cops and taxi companies but I don't recall the crown vic having major flaws like that.
ThePantser@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 292d
Yes they suffered the same issue as the Pinto, Explody from rear ending.

blackbelt352@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 291d
Did not know that, appreciate the info! One thought I had though is that the Crown Vic may have had more deaths than the Pinto, was that because they were actually more prone to explode than the Pinto or does the fact that it was so widely used by cops, taxis and groups using a fleet of cars account for the elevated numbers?
PP_BOY_@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 292d
First time im hearing of it as well. I even had a CVPI for a short time and was impressed with the build quality
MyTurtleSwimsUpsideDown@fedia.io · 7 pts · 292d
It’s just the chase. It’s the “defensive” driving maneuvers and the getting bumped by a beater that will get officers cooked in an unopenable tin can.

just ride out into the desert, these things get hung up on napkins for fuck sake.
man_wtfhappenedtoyou@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 292d
I guess they gotta do something with all that inventory nobody wants to purchase. Keep that stock price up.
x00z@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 291d
I guess it's also an easy way to advertise.

Waste of taxpayer.funds
invertedspear@lemmy.zip · 10 pts · 292d
Those private donations could have done better, but at least it wasn’t tax dollars.
hateisreality@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 291d
I still think many tax dollars were used..
Almacca@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 291d
Tax deductible donations, no doubt.

Classic idiots supporting other idiots with idiocy. Have fun with that! I would have gone with Mclarens personally, but you do you LV
vinceman@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 292d
Oh my god it's so fucking pathetic to choose cybertrucks I didn't even think of what else they could have bought.
billwashere@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 291d
I hope they all have to drive through large puddles.
Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 292d
Do they glue the handcuffs on the perpetrators?
MehBlah@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 291d
So one freak downpour and they will all malfunction.
st3ph3n@midwest.social · 8 pts · 292d
Not a good look.

I'm gonna laugh when they start losing fingers to the doors being slammed on their hands.
angband@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 291d
fuck will they lock people in those?
kreskin@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 291d
We already knew cops arent smart or in any way serving for the American people, or informed about laws, this gives them the perfect vehicle to match.
kungen@feddit.nu · 6 pts · 292d
Hey dude can you please wait like a half an hour? I gotta charge my car if we're gonna have a pursuit...
Tattorack@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 291d
Know any brave militant activist vandals in your area? Would be great if these cars get fucked the moment they hit the streets.
x00z@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 291d
Why would you need a vandal for this though? These cars are known to get fucked up by driving off the lot.
