Holy shit, Logan Sargeant Q3 lets gooo

greyfrog@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y (1 reply)

This aged well.

gitpsuh@programming.dev · 7 pts · 2y

I wasn't really expecting much higher than 10th from him in Q3, so this isn't that bad if they can lineup tomorrow without taking any grid penalties

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I don't want to get too far ahead, but I'd love to see a double points finish for Williams tomorrow.

Logan better than Lewis, you read it here first! /s

American dethrones British king of F1! USA! USA! USA!

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

This didn't age well...

PurpleSheeple@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 2y

Nice two first two rows, with for different teams. Love it!

Edit: even better: 6 different teams at the first 3 rows :)

t0fr@lemmy.ca · 11 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Super happy to see the two Williams making it to Q3

cjsolx@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Russell sounded legitimately excited for them too!

lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 2y

Norris πŸ‘πŸ‘

Albon πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ mega effort

Nighed@sffa.community · 7 pts · 2y

HAM beaten by SGT, time to retire πŸ’€

/S

espentan@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y

Yay Williams! Nice going..

dimspace@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y (4 replies)

McLarens and Williams loving the wet again

espentan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Mhm, and also high downforce, low speed tracks (relatively speaking).

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Am I misremembering? I thought Williams' strong suite was high speed tracks before the break.

Either way, Albon is always good in wet conditions.

espentan@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

My comment was directed at the McLarens, and you're right, historically (2022 and this year) Williams have been quick at high speed tracks.

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Ah, gotcha.

Still, this pace from Williams is great to see on a track that doesn't really suit them. Did they bring upgrades this weekend?

greyfrog@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y (1 reply)

So happy to see Sergeant make it into Q3, even with the crash. It'll be good for his confidence.

This weekend has been awesome so far and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Williams fan.

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

This really has been a good qualifying! Hopefully the race is just as exciting tomorrow.

Gsicht@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y

That heli cam with the speed information is fantastic!

Nighed@sffa.community · 6 pts · 2y (4 replies)

Ferraris are looking strange today. Locking up and sliding eveywhere

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y (3 replies)

That's at least the third time that's happened to Leclerc today.

Nighed@sffa.community · 3 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Between the two of them they have missed the first corner 4+? Times.

This could just be an extension of leclerc's habbit of pushing beyond what is possible

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Could be, but he was on a cool down lap, right?

I think he was on a cool down one or two other times too. This is definitely a bit odd.

Nighed@sffa.community · 1 pts · 2y

Oof, even worse if it was a cool down lap

Photographer@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Looks moist

espentan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

That's what.. someone said.

espentan@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y (5 replies)

Leclerc has about had it with Ferrari..

Nighed@sffa.community · 3 pts · 2y (4 replies)

When is he out of contract?

espentan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (2 replies)

After 2024.

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Were those rumors about his post 2024 Ferrari contract several weeks ago ever confirmed?

They need to clean house with their strategy department

espentan@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

Sainz, realizing McLaren will be a threat, tries to innocently take them out. Clever.

Edit: Well, right now Ferrari are only a threat to themselves.

lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Both Williams in Q3!

BaskinRobbins@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Is this the first Q2 for Sargeant?

gitpsuh@programming.dev · 5 pts · 2y

Alex Jacques just said this is his 3rd Q2 appearance

espentan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

I was wondering the same thing.. think it might be.

Edit: 3rd time, apparently.

espentan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

The difference between Max and Perez is similar to the difference between Albon and Logan.

BaskinRobbins@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

RIP

Nighed@sffa.community · 4 pts · 2y

Shortest Q3 debut for anyone?

Edit: couldn't find stats. I remember at least one driver crashing in Q2 but making it through for the first time though.

espentan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Albon and that Williams really love these conditions, on this track.

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

I'm so happy to see McLaren making a strong showing after the last few years. Excluding Redbull, I think the second half of the season is theirs to lose.

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y (2 replies)

What did Leclerc set on the top of the car before he removed the wheel?

It sort of looked like a Ferrari branded tape measure.

BURN@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Seatbelt buckle. All the harnesses clip into one central point on F1 belts iirc. I think it’s normally left attached to one of the over the shoulder belts

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Ah, you're definitely right. I had no idea they could be removed entirely, I thought they were permanently attached to one of the straps.

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Kinda surprised to hear the optimism about Ricciardo coming back next year despite the injury.

espentan@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Do we know how severe the injury is, yet? It didn't seem that bad, and it would be harsh to dismiss him for missing a couple of races this season. If Lawson wins today, he might be in trouble, though.

970372@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 2y

It was broken, right?

Microw@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 2y

AlphaTauri CEO Bayer said the bone is full broken through. Which sounds bad.

Sentau@lemmy.one · 2 pts · 2y

Damn verstappen always pulls shit out of the bag when it is needed. Also piastri bungeled it when it mattered the most

gitpsuh@programming.dev · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Hoping to see some slicks

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

We're definitely going to see some in Q3

BaskinRobbins@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2y

Good shit Sargeant

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

I feel like I'm watching a nature documentary with all these super close ups.

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Maybe rain will come during the red flag and Williams will lock out the front row? Please? I'm desperate.

Photographer@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Its a shame because they were actually competitive in these conditions, but on a dry track, not so much

hal_5700X@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Both Williams made it into Q3. Lets go!

TheProtagonist@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Why did they take out Lewis that early? Did they think β€œP9 is safe, good enough” while there were still drives on the course?

frank@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 2y

He pushed his second to last lap. I don't know why they didn't do another warm up and push on the last one. Weird call

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Watching the on-board camera at this track is so cool. It really shows how big some of the hills are.

greyfrog@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Yeah I get what they mean when they say it's a rollercoaster.

Nighed@sffa.community · 1 pts · 2y

Oh shit

DC asking what a crane is called LOL

wes@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Grabby thingy

gitpsuh@programming.dev · 1 pts · 2y

So the intermediate runners got away with the dodgy call then, since nobody apart from Albon got a good lap in on the softs

genuineparts@feddit.de · 1 pts · 2y

What was that accident? It looked like he understeered but just didn't react to it?
