She had a huge influence in the early days of gaming, and many will remember her as a caring, genuinely funny and passionate woman who loved her work and people.
I saw the news on Reddit about her GoFoundMe, as well as the tragic update a day ago, and now the sad news of her passing, and I thought some people here on Lemmy would gladly take the chance to remember her and celebrate her life.

Her hour long speech about how 3DO Doom came to be is legendary. If you don't have the time to listen to it in its entirety, I recommend StopSkeletonsFromFighting's summary.
I put these links separately from the main post because, although many people remember her for this story, she was a legend who worked on many other games and deserves to be remembered for other, much greater accomplishments.

She regularly posted on Mastodon, and during the last month there was a post every few days about how much she was in pain. It was heartbreaking really, and finding out that she lost that battle didn't make it any better.

Incredible achievements! FIRST US national gaming contest winner, then becomes a professional programmer at 16 ! And sooooo many jobs she did that led the way to many others. She was passionate and kind.
