Oh, a franc for every time that one happened...

Adderbox76@lemmy.ca · 18 pts · 255d (1 reply)

Yes. But that was a strange time in my life that I'd rather not discuss openly.

Bonus@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 255d

It's okay. A lot of people experimented during their college years.

For a second, I thought this was about some ICE bullshit.

sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 255d

¿Por que no los dos?

Is this real life or A Song of Ice and Fire?

SomGye@sh.itjust.works · 73 pts · 255d (8 replies)

It's Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

danc4498@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 255d (7 replies)

Is he the good guy?

cannedtuna@lemmy.world · 36 pts · 255d (6 replies)

I mean… that’s probably a matter of perspective.

You should watch the movie rendition, it’s fantastic and Johnny Depp stars in it.

philophilsaurus@sh.itjust.works · 29 pts · 255d (2 replies)

Don’t forget Alan Rickman!

Also wtf I never realized Sacha Baron Cohen was in it?

And Helena Bonham Carter, who is also awesome in that movie

And Alan Rickman

chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 255d

She sure is awesome. She’s a perfect pairing for Johnny Depp. Really good energy mix.

danc4498@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 255d

I’ll check it out!

Lisk91@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 255d

You forgot the best part. When the judge came for a shave.

Electric_Druid@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 255d

I would argue that by the end of it, Mr. Todd did not consider the experience "cool"

jballs@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 255d (2 replies)

If you are a Hamilton fan, I highly recommend checking out their tribute to Sweeney Todd.

Demon barber sweeny todd randomly pops into my head in the shower, much to the confusion of the hubs who has not seen that tribute

edgemaster72@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 255d

Oh hello crossover I didn't know I needed, thank you for this

Yes. Twice.

A_norny_mousse@feddit.org · 1 pts · 255d

oddly specific

cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 255d

Just realizing how close this is to the plot of oldboy.

Taleya@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 239d

I've considered it, but times is hard

plz1@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 255d (1 reply)

This sounds like a good sequel to Oldboy (the American version, the Korean version cannot ever be sequel-ed properly).

cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 255d

Except it kind of was the middle film of an informal trilogy about revenge.

The sequel (kinda not really but thematically) has food porn (baking, even!), and a really beautiful community healing/torture scene where a fancy cake is contrasted with a piece of tofu as a central metaphor.

its a shame that the cast ruined it by being an abusive rapist (Depp) and one of his core defenders (Carter)

CannonFodder@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 255d (1 reply)

Rather contested, that notion is.

StarlightDust@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 244d

Of course it is since the patriarchy is real.

cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 7 pts · 255d

True or not; he plays a serial killer who makes other people eat his victims very well. I feel like the movie's still fine.
