It's competition that is supposed to drive down prices. Doesn't work very well though when you have virtual monopolies and vertically integrated companies to the extent that america has, like Apple and Amazon.
To be fair it kind of serves you right for buying anything Apple in the first place. Everything they sell has always been stupidly expensive, and everything is sold separately.

I say this as someone with an apple laptop:
You don't buy Apple unless you want to commit to paying over double for accessories.
If you buy an Apple product you're opting in to being fleeced by them for any related purchases.
It's a premium brand at the end of the day, there are always more economical options
