Is there a lore reason as to why this is extinct and I can't have it as a pet to ride it?

I think they died out when their primary food source (50cm wide cowboy silhouettes) also went extinct.

That would produce incredible amounts of shit

At least it’s biodegradable unlike car pollution

The world wasn't ready.

It rejected capitalism and will only return once it has been abolished

The government fears the self sufficient dinosaur shepherd

I too would like the now extinct VW beetle as a ride.

I like how this implies that the average grown male human and Volkswagen are 50cm lmao

It was removed from the plot purely for shock value.

Who knows in socialist paradise 2059 maybe they will clone new Gigantus Capabarus out of fossil DNA or something 🤔

They will also clone dinosaurs, Dodos and other extinct creatures along with it.

They’re not actually extinct; the US government found them all and is containing them in Area 51

CADmonkey@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

They aren't made anymore, but there's no reason you couldn't find one, fix it up, and take it on rides. There's lots of resources for old air-cooled Volkswagens. Could probably also take your giant capybara for a rode too.

Ronin_5@lemmygrad.ml · 1 pts · 3y

That’s just a larger capybara with a tail.

No lore reasons, it was patched out for balance.
