One of my favorite parts of the covid vaccine thing, other than not getting covid, was how the goalposts kept being dragged a month or two back when the shots didn't kill me. My favorite interaction was someone telling me the jab would kill me in 30 years. I was 40 at the time. Im sure something will get me in 30 years, lol.
Being an adult is awesome. I get to have a motorcycle, my own cat, I can build whatever I want, I can have chickens if I want, and I have a really cute wife. What could I do as a kid? Go to school? Live with my parents? Hang out with people who had the minds of children? Boooring.
In my 20's I was just some guy working in a factory.
In my 30's I learned about CNC lasers and CAD and got to do cool things. Now im 40-something and I get to do and see cool things, and even design cool things.
The fun part that I have heard from a few retail managers is that the software that the self checkout uses costs as much or more per month than the employee would have.
Plus most of us are assisting our elderly surviving parents
I keep seeing this with people I know, including my spouse and myself. We have spent our entire marriage so far taking care of old family members. Why us? Because my wife is literally the only competent person anyone in her family knows. And she's very caring and compassionate.
Or she was. None of the elderly people we have supported have been nice or easy to care for. My wife got tired of feeling used. We have decided that we are no longer an unpaid skilled nursing service and therefore we are the most heartless people to have ever existed. It has not been popular but there aren't yet laws demanding we take care of them.
My family, on the other hand, is more organized and generally heathier. But i have still explained to my parents that they had better have a plan, because we aren't it.
And I wonder, how many other genx and millenials have made this same decision? How many will sleep on the Boomer-only bench?
The Jimmy is the GMC vehicle in the US. The Jimny, spelled J I M N Y, was the suzuki I was talking about. Its an easy mistake to make, or at least its an easy mistake I have made before. 😂

One of the moat depressing things I used to hear as a kid was how this was the best part of my life and I should enjoy it.

I frequent a DG Market in a rural area. They shut the self checkouts down pretty quick due to theft.

I recommend downloading a period tracking app and using it to keep track of HVAC air filter changes in your home. Because making junk data is fun.

The GMC Jimmy was a rebadged Chevy Blazer, a sport utility vehicle.
The Suzuki Jimny is a tiny little SUV that is used for embarassing overconfident Wrangler owners.
The Jimmy we had in the US, made by GMC. The Jimny, note the spelling, was made by Suzuki amd sold overseas.
Cars cost money and people have trouble getting around without them.
If you're going to build some kind of suit, you'd want the machines in the metal shop to be intact.
The silverado was made in London, ON for a while. So was the Geo Metro, which was a japanese car with an american nameplate being built in canada.
I had an F150 made in Kansas city, and I wondered how much of it was manufactured outside of the US.
Nope, theyre Suzuki Samurais here. They stopped importing them around 1995.
It was in North Carolina. Moore county I think.
