Is there any way to change the way a browser displays transparent images? Like instead of the checkerboard, could i have cats or that Jazz pattern from the cups of the 90s? Its so annoying getting these fake ones, there has to be a fix.
Hey that is the exact image of a santa hat i used 2 days ago. Downloaded it and saw png so I was like oh cool. Put it in photoshop and fucking checkeded background

Webp is a stupid mixed bag.

Whats wrong with it? I think its a neat, efficient format (If we ignore how heavily google pushed it)

I love it, it's smaller than both PNG and JPEG while better looking than both.

There is some irony in the fact that this meme is a .webp

Why is this even a thing? Are people taking screenshots and making them .png out of malice?

My guess is image hosts that don't support transparency and uploaders not realizing (until after) and/or not bothering to delete it if they find out

Google image search at least used to do this, it scrapes a PNG and turns in to a JPG to show in the search

Insidious shit. That makes sense based on all the checkered jpgs I've downloaded from there

Click and drag the image. If the background goes with it, it isn’t transparent.

Or hold it up to the light. If you can see light through it, it's transparent.

You only need to do that if you are using an eink screen.

I once asked Gemkni to create some art with a transparent background and it drew the checkerboard pattern behind the object...
