How do you think the genocide in Palestine (caused by the country of Israel) would stop? Would there be a revolution? Is the genocide because of imperialism running rampant? Does socialism has the tools necessary to stop this genocide (among other things)?

The genocide is because of settler-colonialism, and ends when settlers flee their genocidal project and it becomes unsustainable, or if Palestinians win millitarily.

The problem is with the US support , it is sustainable
Cowbee@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 239d
Not permanently. The US Empire is dying.
mrdown@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 238d
It seems that Palestine is dying faster though

All the more reason to not sit on our hands.

The genocide is a product of imperialism, though not necessarily simply imperialism "running rampant", because there is no good imperialism.
Imperialism is based on theft and exploitation, which socialists oppose.
However, as long as capitalism is the hegemonic global system, upheld by the violence of imperialism, socialist activity remains limited to resistance.
Ultimately, activism in the West must seize on the growing unpopularity of support for Israel, in order to expand movements targeted at dismantling the military-industrial complex, the machinery of endless war.
We must develop the conditions such that politicians supporting Israel's or other atrocities becomes too costly for them to maintain power.

any socialist means of stopping the genocide would have to be a strong movement in Israel, or in the nations that are it's major supporters. unfortunately, there is effectively no organized left at all in Israel and the socialist movement in major supporting nations is only able to make progress at the rate we have already seen.

There is no difference between left and right in Israel. Ben gurion was from thr left. He is the one who said before 48 that after the formation of a large army we will expand to all palestine

Israel has the strongest "socialist" movement in the world. But it's national socialism.
Saapas@piefed.zip · 1 pts · 237d
I think it will stop with Israel just controlling the whole area. They've been making moves to that direction little by little and now they're even getting international support from USA to do it
DylanMc6@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 237d
What about the people in Gaza?
Saapas@piefed.zip · 1 pts · 237d
Seems like those left are being pushed to leave.

Unfortunalty i feel that Palestine is done for but my mentality is too never give up no matter how dim the situation so the fight continue. The most probable way to me for Palestine to be free is a regional war between Iran and it's axis and israel and where Iran win.
Socialism can't do anything as long as the enemy has technological advance

We organize, agitate, and fight.
Socialism is not something that will spring from the ground in the distant future on its own accord.
It depends on how we act, beginning in the here and now.

What do you mean by that?
mrdown@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 240d
Which part exactly
DylanMc6@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 240d
Both parts

I am sorry I just don't know how i can elaborate more

It will stop when Western support for Palestine outweighs the power of the Israel lobby. The imperialism take most of the left clings to makes no sense because supporting Israel destroyed the Western reputation and barely gained it anything.. Certainly not a good realpolitik move.
It has nothing to do with imperialism and everything with the Israel lobby controlling almost all US and European middle east policy.
DylanMc6@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 240d
How do you think we encourage more Western support for Palestine?
geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 240d
By acknowledging the extreme influence of Israel inside of Western of the governments and fighting against it. And not blaming all Israel support on "Western interests and imperialism". AIPAC and these other massive lobby groups obviously have a purpose.
Israel does not control Palestine from Israel. It controls Palestine through America and Europe. Without all the free weapons and money it would fall in a heartbeat.
The current MAGA infighting against Israel is awesome and should be supported by everyone.

Israel is a colony of the US.
It may launder its reputation by reaching into the US establishment, but its pursuits are fundamentally and undeniably aligned to the interests of US imperialist hegemony.
geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml · -3 pts · 239d
No longer. Israel very much steers the US middle east policy these days.
unfreeradical@slrpnk.net · 3 pts · 239d
You say so, yet Israel's pursuits are invariably aligned strongly to the interests of the US.
ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 238d
I would bet the "interests of the US" are actually interests of Zionists elites affiliated with the US. Ordinary citizens stand nothing to gain.
unfreeradical@slrpnk.net · -1 pts · 238d
Your comment wreaks of antisemitic dog whistles.
Every state is controlled by elites, who have interests different from the interests of the population.

Like bombing Qatar?

Do you really trust Trump. The usa definitely nee about the attack

You are missing the forest for the trees.

Wait, MAGA is turning against the country of Israel?

Is there any way we can rally them to support Palestine (and let them watch Trump squirm over his supporters supporting Palestine?)
geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 239d
Simply letting them turn against Israel without too much pushback though do keep in mind their other values still differ immensely. But Palestine does no have the luxuries of choosing its allies.
For a far broader take on possible actions this great (very long) video recently came out https://youtu.be/bYkfmC6XFvs
DylanMc6@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 239d
Do you have a "saved you a click" explanation?
sudoer777@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 238d
MAGA is an "America first" movement, so the opposition to Israel is probably a combination of it not being "America first" and Christian nationalist ideologies, so I have no idea why they would ever support Palestine instead.
DylanMc6@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 236d
Is the "America first" part of MAGA because of jealousy towards all the other countries?
ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 238d
Nobody has to support Palestine to say they are sick of all this crap. I have no interest in supporting them, but I want the nonsense to stop. Genocide is bad no matter who it is.
mrdown@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 239d
Aipac is fully funded by american zionists not Israel. The usa will always be the major power who control israel not the opposite
geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 239d
American Zionists who put Israel first and use their power for Israel. Miriam Adelson sure Isn't American first.
