Tried to comment on a post and the comment disappeared saying I was blocked.
Didn't even let me copy and paste it, so I had to retype the whole thing as a reply to someone else and it disappeared again.
This place is designed to prop up deceptive and harmful people. The correct approach is like nostr where you can only mute people, not stop them from replying. But I don't even remember fucking reddit being this bad - who the fuck would think it's a good idea to stop blocked users from replying to other people's replies?
I've done enough testing to recommend people stay away from this garbage in the future, while having a good reason on hand. I'm done wasting time on a cultish community that thinks shit like this is OK. Find me on nostr if you want, I will only be using piefed as a place to dump my own content from now on and not replying or engaging with anyone else's posts

I am not sure I really understand the gripe. If you have an issue with piefed just switch instances? Isn't that the whole point of decentralization. Don't like one place, just move to another that has all the same features and content without the same issues? I am pretty sure I have like 5 different accounts at this point.

Reddit absolutely "is this bad". If you get blocked on Reddit, you can't even see the replies of the person who blocked you.

I spent years on reddit and got back on it recently and never encountered this issue a single time.
There are subreddit bans which warn you before you waste time typing, and I'm pretty sure if a comment is removed you can still recover it to copy and paste.
If blocking someone on reddit works the same way, maybe it's not a problem because the front page of every subreddit I've ever been on has zero posts from the kind of people that block a good contributor like me.

Sorry, but that's precisely how reddit works. If someone blocks you - all you see is [unavaliable] when they post.
This is true (unless it's removed by reddit), but this is just the difference between how activitypub works vs. reddit so far as I know.
Reddit is massive. I have no idea how active you are on there, but the likelihood of you finding a poster on the frontpage of a subreddit that has blocked you is marginal.

How is this deceptive or harmful? From my understanding it’s stop people following others around and harassing them. Since muted people can follow you around and comment on your shit but now you can’t see them.
Why would you just not block them back so you’re essentially invisible to each other? Instead of getting mad you can’t engage some that specifically pressed the “don't let this user engage with me” button.

I did, but now why would I keep looking at other people's posts here at all? You think I want to keep finding people to block? How would that benefit me or be a use of my time?
Why would you not get angry at censorship? And are you completely forgetting the part where the posts disappeared without letting me copy and paste, or ignoring it on purpose, or just doing a really bad job making me understand how your thought process addresses it?

I’m asking you how you think blocking, a feature of a majority of social media platforms (including reddit as pointed out already) is deceptive and harmful. Largely rhetorical because it’s an absurd assertion. Just because people use a tool in a “deceptive and harmful” manner (whatever that means) doesn’t mean the tool becomes inherently those things and again is a key feature for users to deal with harassment where muting is insufficient.
Given how far you’re trying to take blocking out of context to frame as a bad thing; I don’t think your leaving is going to be a great detriment. Being able to block someone != “going around finding people to block”. If multitudes of people are blocking you that you have to reciprocate; might be worth having a think about why that is. Your right to express yourself or an opinion doesn’t equate everyone being compelled to listen to it. Nor is it censorship if someone, for whatever reason hard to imagine, decided they don’t ever want to hear from you again.

Nope. My comment that disappeared twice was about how we need a human-tagging web of trust system to deal with bot spam. Which I assume nostr will implement before piefed, if anyone ever implements it. I'd copy and paste the more detailed explanation if it didn't disappear both times I tried to post it
