An unraveling Justice Department appears to be coming apart at the seams

As Attorney General Pam Bondi’s tenure approaches the one-year mark, the Justice Department she ostensibly leads is clearly a mess. Over the course of 2025, the DOJ struggled with everything from personnel purges to incompetence to weaponization.

But as 2026 gets underway, conditions at the Justice Department have gone from bad to worse. Indeed, almost two weeks into the new year, the DOJ appears to be an agency in crisis, rapidly unraveling before our eyes.

Remember when all of us were shouting about Project 2025, and like 50% of the population was saying "oh that's crazy, they would never actually do that" ?

FUCK YOU all. I hope you suffer as much as possible from these terrorists in the government now. Being personally affected is the only way Conservatives learn, because the entire ideology is inherently selfish: "fuck you, I got mine"

50% of the population wasn't saying that, a widespread disinfo campaign funded by our corrupt oligarchs was spreading that talking point.

cranakis@reddthat.com · 16 pts · 232d (2 replies)

Half of the voters bought it. That's what matters.

I doubt there were that many voters who oppose project2025 but were swayed away from kamala by thinking it's not real.

About 30% of us adults voted R. 30-35% is about the maximum support that fascism can muster. Voter suppression won the election, not any particular policy or lie.

Newsmax has been absolutely unprecedented in its successful brainwashing campaign. I'm blown away how well it has worked. Other media sources contributed too (Fox, OANN, TPUSA, right wing tiktok, etc), but Newsmax has destroyed these people's entire concept of existence, it's completely awe-inspiring, in the worst possible way.

I remember the (IRL) reaction from a few normies and "independents" (meaning, Republicans that don't want to admit it): "isn't that just a conspiracy theory?"

Me: If being able to read the published plans of this group in a PDF they themselves published is a "conspiracy theory", I guess language has lost its meaning.

I guess language has lost its meaning.

Not "I guess". That's it. We live in a post-truth society (in America at least). The truth can be whatever you want it to be. We're so fucked, but I think enough common idiots are finally realizing what's happening.

Oh I'm very intimately aware.

This is the lifelong dream of every Republican and conservative. They want to destroy the US government because it has the power to arrest them for being evil and racist even when their local governments protects them.

Hardly unravelling, more like being reformed to carry out the current administrations agenda. Anyone not on board is being pushed out. This take that it's "coming apart at the seams" is pure copium. The only thing coming apart at the seams is the old world order.

Pam unBondi, amirite?

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 232d

I so want to see Pam Bondi on the stand and under oath.

Even better, I'd like to see her mugshots released to the world when she's arrested. :)

Seems to be working as planned

More copium. ‘Breaking down’, ‘disarray’, ‘increasingly isolated’; all keep-the-clicks-coming articles while nothing changes. A staple of trump presidencies. FFS.

MuskyMelon@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 232d

Incompetence was the plan all along.

Good

Republicans: "We have to drop DEI and start hiring based on merit."

Also Republicans: fill departments with people hired based on no merit whatever.

Imagine how much safer and more secure the world would be if the department of justice did its job and held Trump accountable

lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 230d
