I love goofy stuff like this. I do want to play Valheim with Greg!

Honestly, I wish more game journalism was like this. Praise to Greg and praise to the writer of this article. Please keep being who you are

Cybersteel@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 206d

Very tales from goldshite

AngryishHumanoid@lemmynsfw.com · 75 pts · 206d

I'm just impressed, that takes a disgusting amount of work in Valheim.

Haha I figured. I love that gas station. They have (or had) great milk. Lol

A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 205d

Some of the best gas station food out there haha

However, skeletons cannot take orders, nor do they know what waffles are, which is probably why Paladin Posting described the service there as "shit" (once again, Waffle House patrons will find this chillingly accurate).

The Waffle Houses around me all have pretty good service. As long as you stick to the hashbrowns or waffles the foods great for mopping up a hard night.

wirelesswire@lemmy.zip · 10 pts · 206d

Hashbrowns scattered all the way was my go-to.

fleem@piefed.zeromedia.vip · 3 pts · 205d (2 replies)

they do a good patty melt also. and the cheese eggs!

oneofmany@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 205d (1 reply)

I didn't know cheese laid eggs! Neat!

fleem@piefed.zeromedia.vip · 1 pts · 205d

don't hide your awareness of the eggs de la leche!

zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 32 pts · 205d

There is no way anything will surpass this on the internet today. Let's close up shop and try again tomorrow.

Rothe@piefed.social · 26 pts · 205d (2 replies)

Americans do love their franchises.

kittenzrulz123@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 205d

To be fair consider the German Lidl or the British Tesco

daggermoon@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 205d

I think he was just meming.

psycho_driver@lemmy.world · 22 pts · 206d (1 reply)

So pretty much just like real life.

a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 205d

In real life we can't contain Greg, either.

IckabodKobain@feddit.online · 22 pts · 205d (1 reply)

I feel like this Gregg works for Big Dollar General, and this an ad Campaign.

DannyMac@sh.itjust.works · 8 pts · 205d

Well, Greg did build a Waffle House too

kittenzrulz123@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 15 pts · 205d (1 reply)

They should add the British version of this (poundland)

kuvwert@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 13 pts · 205d

Ah yes! I saw your mum in poundland last night

(I'm so sorry, it was right there)

BeigeAgenda@lemmy.ca · 13 pts · 206d

Good it's not Spirit of Halloween because then it's closing time for Valheim.

Baggie@lemmy.zip · 12 pts · 205d

This is the best article I've seen in a while

merc@sh.itjust.works · 8 pts · 205d (2 replies)

If there's more than one, is the plural Dollars General?

unphazed@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 205d (1 reply)

Proper noun, plural is always an ending s, ownership always apostrophe s.

merc@sh.itjust.works · 0 pts · 205d

Whoosh.

devolution@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 206d (10 replies)

At least it's not Walmart.

sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz · 32 pts · 206d (8 replies)

Dollar general is pretty bad for towns. Don't know if they've done heinous anti union shit yet by they siphon wealth out of local economies kind of lethally

chaogomu@lemmy.world · 21 pts · 206d (1 reply)

Hard to unionize when you're the only person working the store.

But yes, the company is also anti-union.

sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz · 8 pts · 206d

That's right I forget they operate on skeleton crews.

BreadstickNinja@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 206d (1 reply)

This is true, but Dollar General also tends to move in after the economy is already hollowed out. You used to have vast distribution networks of local merchants and independent businesses. Now everything flows up to the Waltons and Bezos and Dollar General licks up the scraps.

sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz · 5 pts · 206d

I was not aware of this. A lot of these towns I see them feeding off of had their moment before I was born, so that's a detail I missed

devolution@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 206d (1 reply)

Walmart is way worse.

lechekaflan@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 205d

Alongside Amazon, both of them destroyer of malls.

IronBird@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 206d (1 reply)

literally every public company siphons wealth

sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz · 8 pts · 206d

Indeed but Dollar General is just worth mentioning specifically because the rate they do it at is larger per their revenue. Like if you live in a small town and hear DG is trying to set up, seriously fight that shit.

Eh_I@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 206d

It takes twice as many sticks to make a W than a V.

smokebomb

Fmstrat@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 204d

Hah, this top comment is 100% AI:

Great article accept for the jab at capitalism. It's not going anywhere and if it does we are definitely screwed. Otherwise keep it up Greg!

KyuubiNoKitsune@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 205d

Nice, he built a McDonald's and a Chilli's too.

noughtnaut@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 205d

I'm just curious about the choice of elements used to construct those letters in the signage, as those beams and angles aren't in the game (even the testing version) although the devs have udsættes about an upcoming update with steeper roofs (which, I suppose, implies steeper beams, too).

I wonder if it's any mod? I'm on Linux and AFAIK mods don't work under Proton.
