The heebies! The heebies!!! Wednesday I start work, then Friday arvo mate from UK is staying over, because of the wedding on Saturday.

And I'm on the rag.

Everything Everywhere All At Once!

At least I'm not the bride having to deal with a narcissistic mother and sister though ๐Ÿ‘€ #blessed ๐Ÿ˜‚

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 199d

It's all turn out well. ๐Ÿ˜ธ

You and I have to stop syncing cycles like this.

Service: Publicly advertises discount for pensioners

Me, a pensioner: Can I please get the discount for pensioners

Service: Uhhh... I guess... I can do that for you...

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 199d (2 replies)

Today was glorious.

Had a meeting with my manager and one of the directors.

Director is an absolute fucking legend lol

Manager tried some petty bullshit and I pushed back hard.

So much respect for the director. I have my lane now.

It's simple. Stay out of my way so I can make this company money and justify my salary before probation ends.

Now we are all on the same page!

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 199d

this is awesome

and I am hard reminded of the great scene in Moneyball where Billy talks to the owner and gets total support to do his job. ๐Ÿ‘โšพ

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 199d

That's great. Sounds like you have the freedom to kick some goals now

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 199d (8 replies)

I moved to Melbourne from interstate 15 years ago. I have to move house (to downsize) in a few months, but nowhere feels right. Just picking a suburb has been paralysing.

Over the last couple of weeks a few things have made me think of returning to my home state. Recent discussion with family has solidified it. Iโ€™m going home.

Itโ€™s going to be weird not saying anything about it IRL till itโ€™s settled.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 199d (1 reply)

Good luck, happiness and good health where ever you choose.

so many hugs

Melbourne will be poorer without you.

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 199d

Aww thank you! Itโ€™s been a tough decision. I may venture back later in life, who knows!

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 199d (1 reply)

Best wishes for you. I hope you'll still stick around here. โค๏ธ

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 199d

Thank you. Definitely will, the Melbourne community is something else. ๐Ÿ–ค

indisin@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 198d (3 replies)

I feel you and I understand. It's weird isn't it having that feeling but knowing your doing the right thing by leaving? Something has changed here and I can't put my finger on it, do you feel the same?

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 197d (2 replies)

Yeah, absolutely. I went through a rough time a few years back and Melbourne lost its sparkle for me. I really have tried to push past it, but seem to keep struggling with the same stuff. Since coming to the decision to leave, there's been unexpected relief.

indisin@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 197d (1 reply)

Oh wow. I have genuinely felt that reply.

Practical plan wise I'm considering UK Brighton and commuting to London for work. Am a pom and Principal in tech and finance/trading so piss easy for me.

But what are you gonna do now that's sparkle has gone? Where you off to?

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 196d

Sounds like a solid plan! Such a massive move though. Do you have a timeline sorted, or still settling all that?

Iโ€™ll be heading back to my childhood city interstate. It doesnโ€™t necessarily have the same sparkle that Melbourne once had, but is comforting and the built in support networks will make it feel less like an uphill battle.

The line to the tennis literally stretches to fed square

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 199d (5 replies)

Imagine what the linesman would say.

Imagine the racket

Lot's of love though.

And I think I'm out of puns for today.

edit no I'm not, I'm sure it'll be ace

SituationCake@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 199d

Hopefully no one in the line is too high strung, and theyโ€™re all game for a day in the sun. Youโ€™ve given a good serve of puns.

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 199d

I think you have established a base line, and do not suffer from whiteline fever.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 199d

thanks, I'm set

I think I ate too many cashews. I have bloat.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 199d

I've done a rough plan for the next few weeks, just adding on more good habits to the old ones.

Re-orged my work area/desk ( I had to move my area because the young seagoons have the big table now ).

It'll be ok. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Went home sick after half the day. Shitty sleep and headache. Ended up feeling a bit dizzy and zoning out, realized then I should go rest

StudChud@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 199d

Rest up! Blame the weather!

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 199d

I slept like shit last night at the gf's. Woke at 0500 and booted home pre-traffic and have been struggling all day, even with naps.

Quick wipe of bathroom mirror and sink. Litterboxes changed, bins emptied. More laundry.

Running the bathroom and stove fans trying to pull some fresh cool air through.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 198d

it never ends

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 199d

a little gardening while it's not too hot outside then back in to do some planning and stuff ๐Ÿ˜ŠI got this

gardening done

now to make to do lists and a weekly planner

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 199d (3 replies)

Yesterday I folded and put away the towels, put away half the laundry, applied carpet stain spray after blotting a spill up, did a big tidy of the bathroom and a quick scrub of the shower.

But I didnโ€™t have the energy to scrub the carpet cleaner out or finish the dishes, or wipe the bathroom down.

Eh. It doesnโ€™t really matter if the clean laundry waits in the basket. I think Iโ€™ll just do a general tidy of the house and attend to the carpet then hopefully get back on the dishes tonight.

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 199d (2 replies)

Nicely done. I have had to accept that I will always have some laundry waiting patiently to be put away. Meh. I cleaned and demolished the shower and have got the dishwasher going. Just little bits.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 199d

Yep. Iโ€™m just trying to prioritise things that cause problems if left

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 199d

Um... De-molded. Not demolished ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

So you can watch the tennis on Stan, but animated...looks exactly like Wii Tennis. I'm not sure why this is an option.

They've legit done tours and shit as a band. I absolutely love the show.

good night everyone, sweet dreams ๐Ÿ˜˜

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 199d (7 replies)

Is there a name for the way a cat keeps their paw lightly on the ground but tips the top of their wrist forward? It seems to be a way of giving attitude when they want something and youโ€™re not paying attention.

::: spoiler It kind of looks like this. Still placed on the ground but pitched forward so it pushes out the top of the wrist/forearm and bends the toes :::

StudChud@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 199d (6 replies)

I liken it to the way we tap our feet or tap our fingers when we're in a queue or waiting for something ๐Ÿ˜‚ "attend to me now, lest I unleash my wrath"

Your drawing is really good! I knew instantly what you were referring to when I saw it!

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 199d (5 replies)

Thanks! Thereโ€™s a very particular motion and weight transfer to the body language. Almost like popping your hip in annoyance.

::: spoiler spoiler :::

I saw it called a fluffen once specifically in reference to it showing attitude but I googled that and the results were not thatโ€ฆ (nsfw)

StudChud@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 199d (4 replies)

Ah when innocent terms get used by the kink community, every sentence becomes an innuendo ๐Ÿ˜‚

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 199d (3 replies)

I just wanna know if the cat hand thing is a thing

Nothing talks about it anymore

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 199d (2 replies)

hmm, I wonder if it is the book Catwatching, which is a book about cat body language.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 199d (1 reply)

That looks like a cool book

TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 199d

Desmond Morris did a whole series of these: Catwatching, Dogwatching etc. back in the 1980s. Please be aware that although he's good on observed behaviour, but his scientific research is now considered a bit out of date, and even at the time of publication was not wholly accepted. Catwatching is probably the best of all his books. In the other ones he tends to stretch things a bit to conform to a pre-existing hypothesis. Which is not good science. The books are fun, but not wholly trustworthy.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 199d (3 replies)

are there rain storms on the horizon ๐Ÿ™

TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 199d

Sort of. Not unfortunately on our horizon. windy.com BOM says Wednesday. Will wait and see.

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 199d (1 reply)

Not forecast but it feels like there should be a summer storm this evening.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 199d

none, it feels so dry here, no rain is forecast for the next ten days

I am watering by hand

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 199d (2 replies)

good morning

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 199d (1 reply)

Good morning...in my dreams I was at a big conference but I realise now everyone there was a dead person ๐Ÿ˜ฑ very random people too...robin Williams...George peแธทl ( and yes there was a very satisfying moment when I told him what I thought of him). And my mum ๐Ÿ’œ. And all the normal conference stress of not finding the right room etc. and random talks but about really sad stuff

I am tired now ๐Ÿฅน I hate when my brain spends the night just going off...

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 199d

hugs

I know I would wake up crying if I dreamed of my mum, it was the only time I could remember her voice
