Going to see David Byrne tonight. It was my Christmas present from my daughter. Very excited. It should be a good night.

I have been a tired, grumpy mess all week for some reason. Going to take tomorrow off I think. Made my first 'significant' mistake at work in 6 months on Wednesday - giving someone completely incorrect information about their account. It was noticed today and I had to fix it up. It's not like me to do that often. All the more reason to take tomorrow off. Boss already knows I've been feeling off this week so I think it's fair, especially given this error I've made.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 220d

hugs

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 220d

Owning and fixing a mistake is all good. It's when people try to hide their mistakes that there is any real issue. Take the day. Hopefully your nervous system relaxes, resets, and you feel better.

Mistakes happen, theyโ€™ll understand. Itโ€™s more about not making the same mistake often. Rest up and go back fresh after the long weekend.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 220d

Definitely rest up and regroup, so far it feels like this year has been all Mondays

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 220d

My plans to not do much today didn't really work out. I've washed a load of sheets and of towels, vaccumed and mopped the floors, put away all the groceries that were delivered, cut up and vacuum packed three chickens for the freezer and made up 12 breakfast muffins, and made a batch of yoghurt.

TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 220d

Got wokened up by rain on the garage roof. Not much, not really enough but very welcome.

Usually in the office we have a Spotify playlist on but today we have a commercial radio station and oh my fucking god I am so happy to be out in the warehouse most of the day. Every time I need to come up stairs my ears want to bleed at the screeching of the hosts.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 220d

same old goddamned songs too

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 220d

I've had a crumby afternoon. I turned all of the random bread crusts in the freezer into breadcrumbs. Some is drying to be used later, some has been turned into stuffing. I used some of the stuffing to make three mini rolled chicken roasts and have used some for dinner.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 220d

I successfully distracted Mr Woof by eating a vegemite sandwich so he didn't even notice the groceries being delivered.

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 220d (4 replies)

Ran into this dog breed at the shops and had a chat to the lovely owner. It was very cute:

Apparently they protected monks.

To my eyes the only thing it could do is yap and at worst nip your ankle.

Dougal has grown up.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 220d

Combined alarm system and protection from the cold, most likely. The original self-heating blanket.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 220d

So dramatic, I love it!! It'd be so cool to meet one!

I saw a puppy shiba inu on my drive home last night and positively squealed with delight. I hope it's in my area and I get to see it again!

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 220d (3 replies)

and here's a photo of an antique frame I fixed up this morning. I put in a small print by Charles Condor.

It's a scallop bevel edged glass frame with chrome plated clips.

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 219d (2 replies)

Such a mood! Love it.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 219d (1 reply)

I love it too. ๐Ÿ˜Š Condor is one of my fave Australian artists.

small frame, 20 x 25 cm, very thick glass and in perfect nick, the chrome clips took a bit of work, had to polish with steel wool then use rust killer.

It kinda looks like a postage stamp

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 219d

It really is like a postage stamp! The frame complements the print so well. Really stunning. I'm sure it will make you happy every time you pass by and glance at it!

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 220d

I don't understand some people. There was content gold at the end of this very expensive video part of work got made. I chopped 2 and a half minutes of other stuff off the start and made it vertical and it already started getting results before the end of the day.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 220d (5 replies)

New nail polished night!! Which colour should I go with? I've just taken off dark plum topped with blue/purple sparkles.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 220d

Envy. I've not broken my long enough to paint in ages. Vote for electric blue ๐Ÿ˜บ

Giving a shit about someone's choice of phone is wanker behaviour. I'm amazed at the dickhead Aussies I meet traveling. I forget there are people who voted for Scomo and Dutton.

Turns out Iโ€™m a teenage girl as well. Also who says that to someone trying to offer help? Oof hope they werenโ€™t that rude to the locals.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 220d (2 replies)

::: spoiler spoiler Be careful with anti aging products, they can irritate your skin or age you prematurely if not used very carefully (and at the time you need them).

Edit: if you use them you will need to be extra vigilant on sunscreen especially, as they can make your skin more vulnerable to sun damage. And itโ€™s probably better to wait until at least your 30s. Or when your skin starts to need more help turning over and need the strong exfoliants. Please consult a dermatologist rather than just buy from Sephora.

What helped me most is sunscreen, moisturiser and genetics. What aged me most was poor nutrition, poor sleep, brief smoking and long years of stress. :::

A good bland moisturiser is great.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 220d (1 reply)

Sunscreen & wilful barenness FTW. Though if somebody mistakes me for 17 they need a new optometrist

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 220d

I tick both boxes and pulled up looking fairly young for now but 17? Ummโ€ฆ maybe from a distance. The Monet kind of distance.

just doing some chores tonight as I'm spending tomorrow looking after Ted. He has a visit to Lort Smith and will hopefully get his sedative so I can groom him. His nervous system is so sensitive I can't brush him, he can't bear it. So that means knots. ๐Ÿฅบ

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 219d

Iโ€™m expecting a silly package today. Delivery via Aust Post. Usually they would have delivered by now. Where package!?

Edit: Itโ€™s here!

the excitement never ends

delivery order for cat litter done

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 220d (1 reply)

Cat litter orders can be very exciting. I managed to set up two different accounts with cat litter subscriptions, one of which I couldn't access so I didn't realise existed. So I was getting bags of cat litter being randomly delivered that I wasn't expecting and couldn't stop. I finally twigged that I was getting emails to a different email address and managed to stop the ghost account, but I now have about 6 months worth of cat litter stashed.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 220d

Not a bad problem to have
