@pantherina I wouldn't call it garbage exactly. Garbage is the Chinese made stuff that doesn't even work properly when new. BIC works. Every time. And quite a long while too. Are they single use? Yes. Some of it. But still preferable over the other stuff.
The world isn't black and white. If we must have single use, then I prefer BIC over the other options.
Most lighters I know are either refillable or BIC. Maybe other bad companies. There really is no need to praise them, maybe you live in an area where the market sucks, sorry for you then.
I would advise getting a normal lighter and butane gas online then
Woa woa woa, terrible? I use bic pens a lot and never had any issue. Are the "single use?" Yes but I don't think you could make a pen like that also rechargeable...

Alternatively, Cricket makes the best lighters and they have manufacturing facilities in the EU.

There are Made in China lighters? I only ever knew the ones you posted.

I meant the plastic gas lighters, not matches

The best ones are reusable

Aren't those toothpicks?
rraggl@mastodon.nl · 3 pts · 224d
@kunegis @bossito Nope... matches from Sweden... ;-)
Although I find a pity that BIC isn't mentioned as well... Made in Europe too...
But I will admit the matches are more ecologically friendly.

Oh thanks,
I got confused by "tand" meaning tooth in Dutch, and apparently also in Swedish. But "tänd" is the Swedish equivalent to German "zünd".

Bic makes single use garbage. Both their pens and their lighters. Horrible company

A matchstick is single use too by the way...

You could, use your imagination. They could sell the drawing part individually
bossito@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 224d
A true, do they also have kitchen lighters? Never noticed those..
rraggl@mastodon.nl · 2 pts · 224d
@bossito Something like this?
https://eu.bic.com/en-gb/lighters/bic-ez-reach
https://eu.bic.com/en-gb/lighters/bic-ez-load
bossito@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 224d
Exactly, thank you. But like you say the matches are more ecological in the end.
