We don't know what gas grenade it is or what's in it. But there is old data from grenades that look similar, and those old grenades are safer than normal tear gas grenades.

But we don't actually know what they are. They could be anything.

Whatever it is, every ice agent should be forced into a room filled with it.

It really should be said that this expert is talking out of his ass here. He hasn't positively identified the specific gas being used, just a similar product by the same manufacturer, and he definitely hasn't actually measured nor tested the gas at the scene. It's an educated guess, but still a guess.

Whatever this is, tear gas, cs gas, is not harmless as is often thought. It causes permanent damage, and is actually a nerve agent, different than what we call nerve agents, but it hits pain receptors in nerves.

Likewise pepper spray would not cause permanent damage but I heard it is often mixed with pfas and other poisonous shit but idk on that source, the tear gas bit was in propublica in 2020 during the blm protests.

It's just a regular ol' smoke grenade like the military uses for signaling. At least so say some people on the ground in Minneapolis who recovered one of the canisters.
