That's always been on the table for any politician. In fact, one could make a pretty strong case that a big part of our current problems stem from the fact that modern American politicians seem to have forgotten that they are just skin bags full of meat like the rest of us. They're supposed to be aware of the possibility that any random person has the ability to walk up and shoot them in the face. This should encourage them to make decisions with everyone's best interests in mind. Clearly they don't worry about that possibility nearly as much as they should.
Mainstream media: Sorry, best we can do is a deep dive into his troubled childhood so we can better understand how such a good person could make one bad choice that shouldn't haunt him for the rest of his life.

The substance could have been important if it was floric, nitric, sulfuric, hydrochloric or other acids. Even tile cleaner would be pretty bad.
It could also have been puz from some hard to cure disease or poison.
It doesn't matter now since she is still alive and well.
