Pretty rough day for news.

Why? What else happened? I'm just waking up.

only a problem in shitholes.
HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca · 35 pts · 196d
Or for people who live next to shitholes. Or have any natural resources that people who live in shitholes want. Or live anywhere where an elected representative has hurt the ego of the shithole in chief.

Or who live on a planet affected by e.g. the [anti-]environmental policies of said shithole.

To much time. Maybe if it was Dec. 30th I'd feel better

Assuming someone had guaranteed that 2026 would take care of "it"...

Author then neglects to say what her answer was now that it is most relevant...
Hegar@fedia.io · 32 pts · 196d
Im guessing the answer is in the video above that paragraph, so we'll never know.
If you're putting info in a video in a news article, you may as well bury it beneath the sands of the taklamakan desert.
anon6789@lemmy.world · 74 pts · 196d
"The mother of my children." is the quote from the video.

Couldn't have even told you there was a video on the page. I mostly browse the news while I'm at work, avoiding doing work. I have trained myself to ignore videos on news articles because I can't have the sound on. So yeah, info in a video embedded on a news site doesn't exist for me.
Hegar@fedia.io · 2 pts · 196d
100%. I only spotted it because i read your comment before the article.
Tiger@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 196d
Goodness, I had to write something referencing the Taklimakan desert just a few days ago so it’s bizarre to see it mentioned.
Hegar@fedia.io · 2 pts · 196d
It was the funniest sounding desert i could remember off the top of my head.

2026 can eat a bag of dicks
RaoulDuke85@piefed.social · 26 pts · 196d
It seriously can. Fuck it's still only January.

"Sorry, it's been a rough year...."
"Lemon, it's January."

david bowie, alan rickman, catherine o'hara. why does january suck?

I've been waking up every morning for work (I work outside mostly) seeing the weather station start with a -2X Celsius for what feels like 3 weeks now.
My body is so exhausted...

Rest in peace, she was an iconic actress, and very very funny.
SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 28 pts · 196d
Catherine famously played Macaulay Culkin's mother in the first two 'Home Alone' movies ... and she appeared as Moira Rose in 80 episodes of "Schitt's Creek."
Other notable movie credits include a couple mockumentaries in 2000's "Best in Show," and 2003's "A Mighty Wind" ... plus "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" and the OG "Beetlejuice."
How fucking ignorant is TMZ. She was famous way before that for SCTV. The irreplacable Lola Heatherton.

RIP funny lady.

Absolutely brutal. Felt ill when I read it. The unexpectedness of it makes it so much worse I think.
Actually devastated that Schitts Creek is now forever done. Thought maybe we would get a movie.
I think it's obvious she was widely loved and appreciated...I can imagine the particukar pain the Levys are feeling right now, besides her family obviously

I did a bit when I told my mom the news but she didn't appreciate the humor.
I'd like to think Ms. O'hara would though.
