So today I’m taking out my fidget toy to work (neatly hidden away in my pocket) and so far I do have to say it helps. Every now and then I click the buttons and it shuts my mind up for a few seconds during which I can refocus.
It’s strangely soothing. It also does give me a headache when I do it too much.
What are your findings?

This specific GAN356 M speed cube. Don’t buy a Rubik’s cube. The GAN cube is way more satisfying to turn. They are so incredibly satisfying I’ve bought like 4 of them after losing them/giving them to friends.

Yes! I've got a Moyu with magnets and it's just such a vast improvement over the official brand.

Cube gang checking in. GAN has the smoothest, perfectly clicking spins, I love it so much!

Dang you beat me to it. I have a qiyi magnetic speed cube.

I don't have a picture of mine but one if my favorite fidget toys is a metal mini slinky

I’ve got a fidget cube and spinner, but my lifelong tradition of finding and fidgeting with blue tac has never gone away
Janx@piefed.social · 3 pts · 152d
Doesn't that like... make your hands all gooey and smelly?
biggerbogboy@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 152d
Somehow not really, it’s probably since I wash my hands pretty regularly and don't really sweat on my fingertips since I’ve been doing it for so long lmao. Although I do replace the blue tac whenever it does eventually get dirty from other things, which is probably like once every 2 years or so.

I had one of those! Just recently I wondered where it went...
eneff@discuss.tchncs.de · 7 pts · 153d
It was probably hidden by someone who isn't a fan of the fact that these thing's buttons make clicky noises.
cravl@slrpnk.net · 5 pts · 152d
I do wish the one side with three clicky buttons and two silent buttons made them feel different so you could avoid the clicky ones when needed without testing them.
UniversalBasicJustice@quokk.au · 2 pts · 152d
Put a drop of super glue on the non-clicky buttons. Now you can tell without looking AND have new stimulation points.

Do not have mine on me right now to make a photo. But it looks like this:

I don't think this instance allows those kinds of pictures.....

I honestly don't have a dedicated fidget toy. I have a leather phone case with a magnetic strap and I use that. It's pretty satisfying to flick the little strap open and shut and listen to the little noise of the magnet snapping it into place.

My old car used to have a switchblade key (Mazda 2) and that was the best fidget when I was out and about.
Right now on my desk I have a 7mm or so, heavy allen wrench that provides plenty of mindless, quiet, fidgeting. My only wish is that it would stay colder longer.

I've used one of these spinny toys for years now. It works great for me. Usb for scale.

Just imagine a pic of a phone and a gaming PC.

Not a fan of that thing, I need something with more texture or a different / interesting shape I can move around in my hand.

I have this same device and really like it. I've got my entire desk covered with random objects to mess with.

These are my top 3 favourites currently, in no particular order:
Arcanepotato@crazypeople.online · 5 pts · 152d
I really like that one! I have two because I lose them a lot. I simply don't use the loud options when there are others around that I might disturb.
I have many, many toys all over the place but here are some of my faves:
For the autism I like these for calming. They are so calming...
Sometimes people ask about them and I find handing it to them so they can see usually satisfies their curiosity and then it's no big deal 🤷♀️

I have one exactly that like that, and it's one of my favorites for sure.

Mine were mostly covered but one thing I also do sometimes (don't have it in reach at the moment) is I will get like a 1.5 inch 3/4 zinc bolt and a couple of hex nuts, keep one at the bottom and spin the other up and down the bolt, IT'S SO STIMMY

In stressful times my body decides to do that at night (because I clench my blanket and press it into my cheek then). Glad that’s not very common anymore.

I have a few rings like that.
