“Hired goons” has a whole new meaning

Hegar@fedia.io · 16 pts · 164d (1 reply)

Hired goons?

Makes me think that "goon" was a self censorship of "gun".

The Bengali word for multiplication is গুন, which is pronounced like goon. As the uncle with a math degree, I'm sometimes asked to help my nephews with their math homework. They're in high school. They can't stop grinning when we talk about multiplication. Brainrot is truly cross-cultural, I guess.

What's the answer to 1 goon'd by 5?

It's an inspiring story of a young woman overcoming adversity while encouraging diversity.

Arsenal FC and its fanbase have always been known as the Gooners (Gunners).

We are the biggest victims of this

I do worse than beat up goons, I mog them. They beat themselves.

Skullgrid@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 164d

Zagam@piefed.social · 5 pts · 164d

Fuck yes I'm in.

Wait sorry. i thought you said "off" not "up".

Pricklesthemagicfish@reddthat.com · 4 pts · 164d

Now you have to beat them off?

In EvE Online, Goonswarm Federation usually goes by Imperium these days to crib GamesWorkshops branding for 40k and to get away from their old leader and past problomatic branding... For an online army of 10k angry nerds, got to look presentable...

I will admit, online names used to have a bit more leaniency for being immature.

Ah, the cry of teen parties everywhere in Australia when someone rips open the box, exposing the bladder: "Gooooooon!"

Flying_Penguin@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 164d (3 replies)

I miss when goon was a hockey term.

tempest@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 164d (1 reply)

It still is isn't it? Or is it enforcer? Or is it "GET YOUR PARLAY IN NOW WITH BET365"

Flying_Penguin@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 164d

They are enforcers and even that's slowly fading away.

Lawnman23@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 164d
stupidcasey@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 164d

You can still goon to them if you like.

It’s like pov or insulting people as npc. I kind of like that the newer generations used more gaming words. The kids of gaming parents are talking :D
