Yeah and weight plates are usually made with ferromagnetic materials, so really this would impact everyone in the gym doing movements where the weights touch the floor.
The LA Fitness I used to go to before I moved a decade ago had carpet for most of its flooring. It was the kind of commercial carpet that came in tiles so you could peel up damaged ones to replace them.
