Related tweet in response to Iran mining the strait:

If Iran has put out any mines in the Hormuz Strait, and we have no reports of them doing so, we want them removed, IMMEDIATELY! If for any reason mines were placed, and they are not removed forthwith, the Military consequences to Iran will be at a level never seen before. If, on the other hand, they remove what may have been placed, it will be a giant step in the right direction! Additionally, we are using the same Technology and Missile capabilities deployed against Drug Traffickers to permanently eliminate any boat or ship attempting to mine the Hormuz Strait. They will be dealt with quickly and violently. BEWARE! President DONALD J. TRUMP

What are you going to do? Start an unnecessary war of aggression against them?

Genuinely don't know how this ends without either the US or Israel doing a nuclear strike purely out of spite.

I_Jedi@lemmy.today · 9 pts · 180d

In typical Trump fashion, it would be replacing a problem with a much bigger problem.

"Iran is very pissed and wants my head" becomes "All of Iran's neighbors are pissed over the nuclear fallout and the Iranians that survived want to kill every American they can find".

In my opinion, there is a way to stop this cold. It requires us all.to thoroughly clean house in the midterms as a first step. Unfortunately, 41% of Americans have a favorable view of Trump's actions in Iran.

That's not how gerrymandered districts are designed to work.

You can do one party or the other, but never both

It ends when more people find out how much sunshine costs in China.

Wakes up and says he’s going to hit Iran 20 times harder today.

Finds out about mines and says… he’s going to hit Iran super duper hard.

You might want to save some room throughout the day for escalation you fucking moron.

T00l_shed@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 180d (2 replies)

He still has room for "super duper MEGA hard" and "Super Extreme Mega hard"

Douchebag Z.

This isn't even his final form.

He says this about everything.

I don’t think there’s any solution left in this war… they killed all the leaders they wanted by accident, then killed a bunch of children which probably locked in a generation of resistance and hatred.

They keep making these threats and don’t follow through. This administration knows nothing other than escalation.

I have no idea what the US’s actual goals are, but they’ve fucked this up exceptionally.

Typhoon@lemmy.ca · 11 pts · 180d

Their goal was to distract from the Trump-Epstein files and that the president raped children. They haven't fucked it up. It's working well.

Maeve@kbin.earth · 2 pts · 180d (1 reply)

Not only that, why on earth would Iran lay mines when they want to sell to their neighbors?

panda_abyss@lemmy.ca · 9 pts · 180d

To cause a ton of destruction to the global economy and the US by extension, same as blocking it and firing missiles at ships. This just becomes another difficult to manage problem.

They could also be mining areas on the south/western side to force ships into high risk bottlenecks they control, giving themselves more leverage over safe passage.

VitoRobles@lemmy.today · 6 pts · 180d

All of our American troops are dying for Israel. Trump is building a lot of resentment from the military.

wuffah@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 180d

There must be a constant stream of advisers distracting his attention away from the nuclear football.

FrostyTheDoo@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 180d

So...they're DEFINITELY NOT mining it. But if they are they better stop!! Or else we'll.....bomb them A LOT (still)?

A "level never seen before" would be bigger than nuclear weaponry. Is that the threat here?

Guys a fucking chode. They're definitely mining the strait and it's a chess move this checkers player does not know how to counter, so he's posturing.

The emperor has no clothes.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 180d

Or what? He's going to bomb even more?

HubertManne@piefed.social · 2 pts · 180d

now go over there. sniff that other dogs but. good good. now like all other national leaders respond to my posts as if they were commands on a second rate bs social media.

DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 180d

Why would they bother? The threat is enough to keep insurance companies from insuring ships for the strait, that is what is keeping them out.
