Not a programmer, so can't comment on API tools, but I have to be annoying and urge you to use alternative 'change my mind' templates, as the original creates exposure for a ghoulish bigot. Here are some alternatives: https://rimgo.vern.cc/gallery/sko7Q9W

dhruv3006@lemmy.world · 29 pts · 143d

Thanks for this.

abbadon420@sh.itjust.works · 11 pts · 143d (4 replies)

I don't know who this man is, I used to know, but I don't care anyway. If he's such a bigot, it seems fine that his legacy is reduced to a meme, doesn't it?

Susaga@sh.itjust.works · 27 pts · 143d (2 replies)

Why grant him a legacy at all? Especially since the original of that meme is a tool of his bigotry.

bleistift2@sopuli.xyz · -2 pts · 143d (1 reply)

The only people keeping his legacy alive are those who incessantly bitch about the meme template. Without you, he would just be the “‘change my mind’ meme guy.”

Susaga@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 143d

I don't understand your logic there. Being the "'change my mind' meme guy" is a legacy. Using the meme template is keeping the legacy alive. Even if it was just the response to the meme keeping his legacy alive, then surely you wouldn't use the meme template anyway, so they have nothing to respond to?

This is assuming you DON'T want him to be easily searched by people wanting to know more about the meme, thus exposing them to his hateful rhetoric, of which the original meme is a blatant example.

athatet@lemmy.zip · 10 pts · 143d

His legacy should be reduced to dust.

RustyNova@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 143d (3 replies)

I find quite funny that even with their anti ai shield their website is still dying

But anyway, alternatively, just make your own template with other media. Be creative

victorz@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 143d (2 replies)

What makes you say it's dying?

RustyNova@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 143d (1 reply)

Oh. It was really slow earlier

victorz@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 143d

Oh I see

MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip · -8 pts · 143d (2 replies)

Who cares who that guy is? Not me.

Skullgrid@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 143d (1 reply)

good, get exploited because of your ignorance

MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 143d

Now this is more annoying.

trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world · 39 pts · 143d (7 replies)

If you have decent documentation you shouldn't need an api client. https://justuse.org/curl/

dhruv3006@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 143d (1 reply)

Well having decent documentation is kind of rare.

trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 143d

But is providing a special client for your api really less work than fixing your documentation?

httpie CLI > curl

Change My Mind

victorz@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 143d

I like xh.

bleistift2@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 143d (1 reply)

I occasionally use curl, and it’s annoying when you have secrets that need to rotate regularly or you need to change the middle of a URL. Also: Fuck quoting in the shell.

trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 143d

I put the secrets in environment variables, I don't what them to show up in the shell history anyway. Quoting can be a bit anything if you need nested quotes, but I hardly ever need that with curl.

antsu@discuss.tchncs.de · 34 pts · 143d (3 replies)

"API client"

Imagine needing a GUI for curl.

BigDiction@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 143d (2 replies)

I’m not a dev and use HTTPie for calls I need adjust or run frequently. How the heck do you do that efficiently in a CLI?

Illecors@lemmy.cafe · 5 pts · 143d (1 reply)

Save it in a file. It's just text. You can even use a GUI text editor!

Samsy@lemmy.ml · 30 pts · 143d (11 replies)

Could you please stop using this meme template? Thx.

dhruv3006@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 143d (10 replies)

Everyone seems to hate this template.

Binturong@lemmy.ca · 19 pts · 143d (6 replies)

I'll assume you don't know cause it's a common format and was very popular for years, but it depicts a guy who made a fortune going to college campuses to demand people change his mind on topics in bad faith so he could berate and harass college students and espouse bigoted viewpoints as an allegedly intellectual adult man. He also was abusive toward his pregnant wife and is a nepo-baby who flaunts his privilege explicitly to troll. If this is someone you knowingly want to bring attention to I advise you reflect on your own beliefs and understanding of what society is because he's wrong and an asshole.

bleistift2@sopuli.xyz · 0 pts · 143d (5 replies)

That guy gains nothing by people using the meme template. Most memers don’t even know about the controversy. So why is it bad to use the template when it’s so detached from the original dude?

chuckleslord@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 143d

Attention economy, man. Being recognizable is an asset, this furthers recognizability for that piece of shit.

Binturong@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 143d

How tf is it detached when it's showing his smug face? Why it is bad is that you are giving him attention through its use when there's literally millions of other memes that would actually make you point better, free from the context associated with that guy, why are you defending it so hard? MANY PEOPLE DO know who he is, but you are for some reason only talking about those who don't? Weird.

KingOfTheCouch@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 142d (1 reply)

Because some of the audience hates looking at pieces of shit every day.

If a literal pile of feces came up on your feed every day at some point wouldn't you ask people to stop posting piles of feces?

You would not be stopping for those that don't know, you'd be stopping for those that do.

Cheers!

bleistift2@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 142d

That’s the first response I’ve received that actually made sense.

orionsbelt@midwest.social · 1 pts · 143d

bc it’s 2026, cmon now. also, fuck that pos.

lambalicious@lemmy.sdf.org · 18 pts · 143d

It's considered Problematic because of the person involved I think. There are a few alternatives such as the Bluey one and the Calvin one, but they are fairly well hidden in eg.: memegenerator.

athatet@lemmy.zip · 16 pts · 143d (1 reply)

It’s cause Steven crowder is an actual shit head.

Aeri@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 142d

I like it because it reminds me that Charlie Kirk is dead.

Binturong@lemmy.ca · 19 pts · 143d

Always downvote steven crowder.

abbadon420@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 143d

No, I will not try to change your mind
