For some people, that's not "nothing"...
And they seem.tonbe clearly marked as a single 16gb stick, and then a blank that only does RGB.
If you care about that shit, getting a "free" one thrown in purely for a symmetrical makes sense.
Some people care enough they'd get 2 8s just for the look, 1 16 is better for an upgrade path which is important with prices like they are.

Yeah, that's why I said "free".
And yeah, it's an unnecessary piece of minor electronics, but co.pared to similar piece these have long lifespans and low energy usage.
A computer is expensive enough that it will likely eventually be recycled and everything is likely recyclable.
Like, not doing it would be better, but caring about these from an environmental perspective is wasted energy that would be better spent elsewhere

First I've heard of putting LED on RAM.......... which......... ugh......... I mean, the last computer I bought has LED on the fans and I do admit I kinda like having it, but I sure didn't seek it out.... And on my RAM? that's hilarious.
That said....... alright, long as they're clear about it - and this appears to be imho...... sure, why not? lol

NEVER buy a "kit", anyways!!
IF 1 single stick is bad, but you bought 4 as a "kit", now you have to ship ALL 4 back, for RMA!!
ONLY buy single-sticks.
Don't get burned like I did!
( no RAM for a few weeks, until they've confirmed, & got around to issuing a replacement, sucks )

Thought it was usually recommended to use paired sticks since sometimes buying from different batches can cause issues with stability when trying to use xmp/expo
Though maybe that's outdated advice and newer stuff plays better together.

From what I've heard, this advice has gotten more relevant with DDR5 rather than less, to the point that CAMM2 modules just bundle both "sticks" onto one package. That's probably also a packaging design choice, to be fair.

The tolerances are tight-enough that "paired sticks" are just sticks from the same bin.
It's a scam, unless you're overclocking, & running the things outside of their rated voltages/speeds, in which case you're gambling anyways.
It breaks people getting return-on-a-single-stick, & that may be good for the corporation, but it's bad for the customer.

You couldn’t ask a buddy to borrow a stick or something? This generation is dual channel with single stick. Perf loss from single stick isn’t so bad.. and you definitely don’t need 64GB+ of memory for the majority of use cases, which is where quad stick ddr5 is as a minimum.
