114k lives that have to keep having services paid for while they cling to life in old age for the majority of those lives lost.
We should have universal healthcare but right now the insurance, healthcare provider and pharmaceutical industries make enormous amounts of money in the US in profits that cannot be made anywhere else in the world. They spend billions collectively on lobbying (bribes) to make sure the majority of politicians are against any legislation that impacts the enormous profits that go to billionaire owners and portions that get paid out to very well paid executives and employees in these industries.
The further you are from the top the less you earn, and the owners want it all. Insurance provides zero value, extreme predatory pricing for pharma provides zero value. Wealth siphoning from healthcare providing companies provides zero value. The combination of all three is why our healthcare is absolutely fucked in the US.
I’ve seen low level roles getting paid nearly 200k in these industries. Low level middle managers are easily above that number. If the low level folks are so well compensated you can only imagine what the profits look like at the top.
These salaries do not apply to hands on healthcare providers in low level healthcare roles - but each of those three industries have different nuances and insane payouts to different groups if you look into it deeply. Healthcare providing is like education and generally not very well paid without advanced education… pharma though? Bachelors or masters is 200k+ generally, even in shitty departments like finance or hr. Sales all hit that or get canned.
They will make everything mandatory log in for 100% named tracking soon, unless regulations call for otherwise.
These tech companies are the ones demanding ID laws to use the internet on computers. Microsoft OS already serves unique identifiers that can track down computers, and they want to close the loop.
They already have an overwhelming amount of information about us anyway, but the more perfect the dataset the more power, control and advertising revenue it affords.
These billionaire owned companies all want to enslave us all with absolute control. Call me paranoid or dismiss what I’m saying if you would like, but unless we can fix our politics in all of our respective areas to free them from the yoke of big money it will only get worse.
Maybe that was the original intent, but I think the dragging on is making lemonade for the oil interests.
When you do not give a shit about the common people and just care about your sponsors who control the biggest businesses and industries, it fits way too well.
It's sony's fault for not having good games. PC is just better for gaming these days. It's not the 90s or early 00s anymore, controllers on PCs are at least as good as consoles and performance is generally the same or better.
Consoles don't let me tweak settings that much, and PCs do. I can't throw optiscaler on PS5, but I can on windows and linux all day regardless of GPU.
I can buy PC games on any store platform, but a PS5 only comes from authorized sources. The very nature of the walled garden makes it worse for consumers in all ways.
If I buy a new PC, I never worry about if it can run the same games and software as my last PC could. It will, and I can probably change some settings to make it all look better. If I buy a console the old games may not work, and if they do work they probably do not have tweakable settings and do not look as good as the often paid upgrades which just adjust the very same settings we would change on PC, but behind the scenes in locations we cannot feasibly access from the console.
Consoles are dying because they are poor value and predatory. They think they can just keep selling us the same shit again and again and again. My PC skyrim copy I bought once and own forever. Every fucking console has it's own edition and you can't transfer the shit anywhere.
Don't get me started on the bullshit subscription pricing for cloud saves and multiplayer that makes zero sense when you already control the entire stack and are making money from hardware sales, software sales, and ongoing subscriptions for any product purchased through the console.
It should just be the progressive party. I'm so done with the bullshit that changes nothing of the status quo that everyone is unhappy with.
This is the best time for it to be implemented. The next president will have the biggest opportunity to make huge sweeping disruptive changes. I just don't think the democrats have the balls to force it like they will be able to with the sweep.
Garbage site that seems to spin everything as the end of the world for the GOP. according to DB the GOP have fallen apart a hundred times in the past week every week for the past year and are in total panic constantly. Doesn't seem to be the case.
The masses are certainly losing faith in the gop platform aside from the diehards, but the core people, about 40% give or take, don't seem to ever really budge.
Google already did this ~15 years ago with the google library project, but they didn’t buy books. They took them from libraries and then as a result of scanning old and rare books, they were generally damaged or destroyed.
I know. I saw it first hand. There wasn’t an incinerator or anything, but the carts full of books that disintegrated half the time. They had quotas for pages scanned and falling below them was a firable offense. You had to rush through it and there was no process to set aside books that disintegrated when the pages were turned.
The dells, hps and lenovos of the world can't sell it, so it's not in retail, so typical people won't really have access to it. Same deal with all the phone manufacturers and then basically any electronic device with NAND.
It can still provide pressure to lower price but it inhibits the effects locally quite a bit. It's like how super cheap cars can be imported to latin american countries but if you want anything remotely similar in the US the costs to get it here make it pointless and thus no cheap cars exist here brand new (more or less.)
Think it will have enough production volume before Ai implodes to make a difference?
CXMT and other Chinese producers already have been ramping up production, all signs still point to shortages for a year or until said theoretical Ai implosion where orders stop getting paid.
CachyOS has been phenomenal for me. Coming up on 7 months now without using windows beyond as a moonlight client on an ARM64 laptop (and windows server, because sysadmin gotta sysadmin.)
Sponsored by PieFed. Home of the cream pie.
So it would be like a kitty snow board.

They want more growth and think the publicity from the change will drive more conversion.
Maybe that was the original intent, but I think the dragging on is making lemonade for the oil interests.

I’m convinced the whole Hormuz thing is aligned with big oil to prop up the Venezuela grab and shit like this.
Who knows though, so many backroom deals drive everything this administration that even dumber cash grabs could be at play.

imo they should have to offer full refunds on all consoles before the warning label if a customer asks.
I'd love to return mine and get the money back. There's basically no games worth playing on ps5 this generation that are not on PC for me.

I promise google used the scanned books with OCR to train their LLMs. This sort of thing isn’t even new from them.

Yeah, there’s already a few Chinese memory makers who have been ramping up production as fast as they can. Feels like a drop in a river though.
It’ll still be embargoed.

The thing is as long as those 3 people and their buddies make a pile of cash, they don't care if the other billions are unhappy.
Trackballs work for me. I use them almost exclusively. I just use a normal mouse for one system usually.
