Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit being a shark.

Surely you don't mean that.
popekingjoe@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 163d
I did mean that, and don't call me Shirley.

A shark‽ What is it?
betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 162d
It's a predatory cartilaginous fish but that's not important right now.

Dude who can morph into any other species at will.

When is the last time you heard someone say something nice about a shark?
MyTurtleSwimsUpsideDown@fedia.io · 3 pts · 163d
I’m sure their friends say nice things.

Lucky sharks
quick_snail@feddit.nl · 1 pts · 162d
Hey man, nobody is ever lucky who is in a situation where they have drugs pushed into them without consent.
x00z@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 163d
Legalize soft- and harddrugs and stop profiting of pharmaceutical drugs and all of this will go away.

Can we get one of those spider-takes-drug-X studies, but sharks?

And microplastics and human excrement and crude oil and everything else humans dump into oceans.

"Saturating" also has a specific meaning that isn't "contains traces of."

And everyone alive is "full of" radioactive waste from nuclear bomb tests in the 60's. And by "full of" I mean, technically detectable by extremely precise scientific equipment but in such small quantities that it has zero effect on the organism and is measured by the number of molecules present rather than even something small like micrograms.
wesdym@mastodon.social · 0 pts · 162d
@I_Has_A_Hat This, by the way, is why someone has been stealing pre-'40s shipwrecks off the ocean floors. That's the only easily accessible iron that's not contaminated with 'bomb waste', making it valuable for certain kinds of scientific instruments. But no one cares about all the iron we use everyday in everything, because the level is so low.
wesdym@mastodon.social · 0 pts · 162d
@I_Has_A_Hat You're mostly correct, but it's a bit more than that. 'Radiation' is a lot of things (heat, light, etc.), but what we mean in cases like this is IONIZING radiation. And our world is filled with that. Bananas are radioactive, for example. Your own body is, too, only because it also contains some potassium-40. Anything granite you encounter is slightly radioactive, and so on. This does not require us to ingest waste from bombs, but that's also a factor.
