p's got back yesterday.

OPERATION DIET DAMAGE CONTROL. 40.5kg weigh in for ol' girl. Here we go again. Wish I could say I'm confident but not much room for error at that weight. I'm running out of options.

In brighter news I fixed the subwoofer with shoe glue lol. If it works it works!

Also found me ol' great grandpas cobblers last: checkit!

Missing a foot but they don't make them like they used to.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 141d (1 reply)

that's not good

seriously, if possible, I would be sitting with her and making sure she eats just like if she were 3 years old , every meal

or a nurse

PeelerSheila@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d

That's what I ended up having to do with my mum. The phone would ring, or the doorbell, or the dog would look at her or something, and she'd immediately drop what she was doing and want to attend to it. I had to be a bit of a bouncer with people. She was the sort of person who used to have dinner at the same time every day too, you'd think people would have some damn brains.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d (2 replies)

Try something called Sustagen. I've used it in the past when I needed to put on weight due to a degree of malnourishment.

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d (1 reply)

Yep. Throwing everything at it lol.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 141d

Dude. You're locked and loaded!

I hope it goes well man โค๏ธ

PeelerSheila@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d

Best of luck with the weight gain. It's so hard ๐Ÿซ‚

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d

Does she like or tolerate sweet flavours? Is there any ability to chew (and able to swallow soft solids)? Because if yes to one or both the options expand exponentially

Sugar is very helpful for calories and solids might be more variety

TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 141d (2 replies)

Have seen them used as doorstops, at which they are very effective. Being stable in multiple aspects.

PeelerSheila@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 141d (1 reply)

We've got one, never knew what they were called. It's been a doorstop, but ExMrP put it in the garden for some reason and now it's all rusty.

TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 141d

They clean up real good, made of good strong cast iron. Worth saving.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 141d

Ooh! Covet the last.

Wishing you so much luck with the food thing!

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 141d

::: spoiler spoiler Remembering Melbcat. She was an absolute sweetheart and also a hilarious prankster. I just want her back :::

MeanElevator@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 141d

Another suburban Saturday.

Bit of shopping, beard trim, gym, nap.

Take out for dinner. Couple drinks, bit of puff puff.

Comfort movie on tv.

Hope y'all having a good evening.

Life can be shit, but gotta enjoy the little fine times.

Also daughter got a part time job recently and her boss loves her.

We're so happy for her and she's feeling over the moon.

And we take the train home together during the week (from uni and work). She fell asleep on my shoulder this week and felt super embarassed later. Probably first time in like 10 years she fell asleep on me.

Anyway.... rambling in a good mood

Heinous@feddit.online · 8 pts · 141d (1 reply)

I slept 11 hours

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d

dammit I was thinking of you just the other day when I was watching Project Hail Mary

there's the whole waking up from stasis to find you are alone in space, meeting aliens and talking with the ship computer, in the case of PHM Grace and Rocky calling the ship Mary

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 141d (2 replies)

Back on the bike again. Even with how wet it was riding home this morning, as soon as you get on a bike you just make this massive sigh of relief to be riding again.

The worst ride is better than the best drive

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d (1 reply)

Yeah. I'm umming and ahhhing about what bike to get. I've got a few options and am mostly stuck between something suitable or something nice for 50% more money. I've hardly been riding the last few years because I didn't like my bike so the spend more on the nice option is tempting. Ideally it doesn't get stolen, and being middle aged I'm hoping it's the last bike I need to buy for my cycling career.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 140d

I got a Velectrix for around $2.5k. It's a good balance between price and features. The main difference spending more would have got me is a bigger battery for more range. But the battery on this bike is kind of perfect for the ride to work and back right now

Happy Saturday! Boyo is now officially unemployed. Post is cordially invited to eat a giant bag of dicks.

I hate vaccuming carpet. Fuck carpet. Should be illegal lol

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 141d

Itโ€™s the worst.

Itโ€™s a shame that rugs are hard to clean and a trip/slip hazard. (I know washable ones exist but donโ€™t know how well they pull up and also a decent size would be too large or heavy for the machine)

Edit: I meant washable rugs over a bare floor as a compromise

Alamutjones@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 141d

Iโ€™ve dawdled over lie in, breakfast, shower and rain observation long enough. Slow to get going, as Iโ€™m a wee bit sore from a lot of walking last nightโ€ฆbut itโ€™s time to go do my shopping

I'm tired. I can tell as I have zero patience for illiteracy today.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 141d (2 replies)

I think it's read a book kinda day.

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d

Absolutely. I have made it to the couch but not planning on venturing much further

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d

I'm putting a movie on and doing some sewing

and if the weather clears a bit more, beach ( I am going crazy wanting to see what has washed up on the big beach )

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 141d (5 replies)

So having had a full nights sleep the other night, and then last night having the standard 2 hour blocks, I'm really fucking down and out today.

I'm thinking "is this how I've been the last 2 years and I stopped noticing?!?!"

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d (2 replies)

Are you taking your medication in the morning or afternoon?

If you're not sleeping well then that would be the first thing I'd look at.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d (1 reply)

I take it throughout the day. I've got a doc appointment Monday to go over it and see if some adjustments can be made. Hopefully.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d

Very good

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d (1 reply)

hugs

I'm super old and late to the game but I have figured so much of life is just organising to make it easy to do healthy things

so what is it that makes it easier to get a full night's sleep for you? Do that.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d

Going to the gym. So I've done that today, just worn out. Hopefully tonight I get a decent sleep.

I don't care if I have to go 7 days a week. Whatever works.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d

The tarp came down in the most important place, that doesnโ€™t stay. Trying other things

Anyone got recs or avoids for cat wheels? We got runners!

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 141d (3 replies)

I have no idea as I actually havenโ€™t cared for a cat with this issue, but perhaps you could trial different rentals before you decide what to buy?

Iโ€™m not with any organisation, this just Google

I think she means the fun exercise/scratch wheels, not a wheelchair

Taleya@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 141d (1 reply)

Nah, don't need a wheel chair, looking for a running wheel for Sam

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 141d

Oh sorry, based on the previous conversation I misunderstood!

Dangerous thing to be in the house of a souvlaki whore

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d

beach

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 140d

Well, rest wasnโ€™t on the cards. I heard crying meows over the rain and opened the door to a familiar figure on the doorstep. Now I know for sure heโ€™s left out all night in the rain and not going inside/home.

He walked through the house sniffing (including Melbcatโ€™s bed) then he ate from her untouched bowl and rubbed on the wall. I let him out the back to feed him under the tarp and show him the sheltered beds.

::: spoiler grief Ugly cried while he bunted me because it feels like Iโ€™m betraying my late cat by trying to step up for this one. Iโ€™m so not ready for another cat even if there was a way to keep him. I havenโ€™t even processed Melbcatโ€™s loss and am just wishing I had her back. I miss how we used to be and donโ€™t know what Iโ€™m going to do with/about the new fella.

I know Iโ€™m being a stresshead. Nobody is forcing me to help this cat. But I do feel responsible for him seeing the level of neglect and am attached to him so feel like Iโ€™m being rushed into another caretaking situation. Just rebounding and replacing my treasured girl. And like these circumstances are pushing me into โ€œmoving onโ€ before Iโ€™ve had a chance to grieve. Iโ€™m feeling everything so strongly right now. :::

::: spoiler cleaning

I wasnโ€™t expecting this and hadnโ€™t even picked up the floor like I planned. I showered and put my clothes in the wash then sprayed the carpet and objects where he walked with Glen 20 and put the floor junk in a tub. Then did a quick vacuum and mop of his path (disinfectant wipe on the wall) then sprayed Tinaderm. :::

Heโ€™s run off into the night now so Iโ€™m going to tuck up in bed until the wash finishes. Iโ€™ll have to do the rest of the cleaning tomorrow. I may have to really look at the budget too.
