Now that you mention it, this movie is on my "alternative timelines" list, because I swear when I originally saw it it was Selsun Blue, not Head & Shoulders.
I've had others agree with me; it's The Berenstein Bears all over again.
No I remember what it was. Head & Shoulders is a better known dandruff shampoo name, but generally uses zinc pyrithione. They used selenium (sulfide?) in the movie and generally H&S doesn't use that as an active ingredient, but Selsun Bluedoes.
I know this because I used to have dandruff. Then there's the third option active ingredient, salicylic acid, which Denorex was good for.
Each active ingredient targets different causes for dandruff. If you have dandruff, you should figure out what your cause is, because it's possible you're mistreating your scalp.
back when Arrival came out - my wife kept referencing Evolution as if suggesting the characters a way to deal with hostile aliens. would've made a better movie if they did it.
No. Furthest from it. But my impression of this movie is forever shaded by my wife referencing the shampoo weapon from Evolution and it is a funny thing to think about. Remember Sunshine? The bomb the sun movie that goes fuck it and morphs into a space slasher - it would've been this kind of tonal shift out of nowhere.
Dude! Ivan Reitman directed both Ghostbusters AND Evolution. And lots of people think of it as a cousin to Ghostbusters. Not sure if you knew that and were making reference to that but if not now you know.
dunno. it was fairly common in the early internet around that the Transmetropolitan was starting. It would've been fun to mid 2000s Transmet adaptation startting Duchovny wearing a skull cap.

Almost all of them switched to zinc now instead of selenium

Might be one of those localisation things to replace it with a product known better to the local community?

Did they steal the three eye smiley from Transmetropolitan?

Possible, although it's not impossible that it was independently created.
