She's a profoundly mediocre, incredibly bland comic, who gets far more publicity than she deserves. And any criticism of her gets you labeled a mysogynist.
If someone is profoundly mediocre or derivative, you do far more to support them by being a hater than by simply ignoring them. Even if they suck as a person, all engagement is good engagement on the internet.
There is a difference between something that is aesthetically bad and something that is morally bad. No matter how poorly made or boring something is, I won't be more than annoyed or fascinated by it so long as it wasn't unethically made or spreads an immoral message. I might really dislike the 3rd Jurassic World movie, but I don't hate it in the same way as the new Harry Potter show. One is a cringe worthy and poorly written piece of media, the other gives money to a wealthy and influential bigot who makes the lives of people like me worse.
Unfortunately, both aesthetics judgements and moral judgements are normative, which causes people to conflate the two. They both claim that something is "bad," but the two types of "bad" are not the same. People often look for moral justifications for disliking something that they dislike aesthetically, or vice versa.
In the case of this comic artist who I know nothing about, I'm trying to figure out if they are a bad artist, or a bad person. If they're just a bad artist, I'm gonna be much stricter in moderating people being so harsh in their hate towards her. I don't want people to treat her like lolcow simply because they dislike her work. If she has done bad things, I'll be more lenient on people calling her out. Regardless, I don't want this place to be a circlejerk of hate because those tend to breed other types of toxicity.
I really just didn't want him to invite toxicity with people responding to him. It was less about the comment itself and more about what it might invite.
Given their post history and entries in the modlogs, I'd say probably not. (and the fact they have a significant number of alt accounts all with the same username that also have significant numbers of entries in the modlogs)

Once again, Pizzacake tells us what we already know.
What a pointless comic.

Do you genuinely enjoy reading her slop though? Or is it just popular because she knows her audience?

Doesn't matter

Am I missing something? Why is the hate so intense?

Fucking Garfield took bigger risks than she does.

I just enjoy pissing off all her annoying fans mostly.

Yeah, I'd appreciate if you don't do that here.

Cringe.
TheDannysaur@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 157d
... So you do it explicitly to try and make others not like something? That seems like a less than desirable trait as a human.

Wait, she has fans?
MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 157d
Nah, you just don't like them.

Her comics are okay but there are some really unhinged DMs from her floating around that gave a lot of people s real bad taste
TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 7 pts · 157d
That's a more justifiable reason than her comics just being shit.

Yeah Pizzacake and every other "funny" le so true political webcomic is forged in the fires of Reddit Circlejerking
Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works · -4 pts · 157d
That's exactly what it is, and people will upvote her mediocre dross because she shares their views.
Not realising that they're preaching to the choir.

Isn't that how everything works?
"I support this, I will like/upvotr/let them.know, so I can see more."
People are not upvoting, I dunno, shitty MAGA comics because MAGA is full if idiot Nazis.

Yeah I think that's a fair point. But I prefer for my political comics which endorse my views to do at least ONE of the following:
But most political comics don't do ANY of these things, and instead count on being aligned with my views to carry the whole thing.
Like this comic is essentially not much different from this drawing I've just made. Tbh I'd have laughed harder if that was the post
