Well, well, if it isn't the consequences of his terrible choices.
Doesn't matter tho. He still has plenty of fans willing to fork over hundreds of dollars to "separate the art from the artist." Maybe people should stop doing that?
When you stop separating the art from the artist you have to blacklist a lot of them. Many of them are incomplete human beings with terrible personality traits.
Since we're on Lemmy, anyone who selects artists by the adherence to their own morals will be left with about three names total.
(Which is not to say that I defend West, of course: he can be shot for all I care, because I don't give a shit about rappers, almost all of them suck.)
still a huge audience out there for him, the uk has prevented all types of people from entering the country in the past including jews including members of the israeli government https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8xgk1ek19lo
Yup. I’d say they fall under “hate promoters”, I mean they’re trying to genocide an entire population. Leave the Palestinians alone and let them have their land. Not to mention now they’re attacking Syria.
Standard operating practice would just be to move everyone else up a slot, and book some 'up and coming' band to fill the very early slot that's left vacant. Glastonbury managed to shuffle people between days when they lost their headliners a few years ago, depends who's free and who's got other bookings.
Looks like they had West headlining all three days, and I can't find anything about who else was due to play - Drake, maybe? The 2026 festival looks like a scam, how little detail there is about it.
Well the point is that he should never have been the headline to start with.
And now all the sponsors have pulled out, because they don't want to be associated with a festival that is promoting a person like Kanye.
Plus the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Monty Python, afternoon drinking, Agatha Christie, Shakespeare, the English language, the games of cricket, football, rugby, golf, croquet, badminton, tennis, and rounders (basically baseball). David Attenborough, The BBC World Service, I'm sorry, I Haven't a Clue, Taskmaster, The Office, afternoon tea, Kipling, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Shelley, Keats, Austen, Dickens, the Brontë sisters, and George Orwell. Oh, and J. K. Rowling if you're prepared to tolerate her shit. Heavy metal, punk, goth, new romantics. Imaginative swearing and football chants. Formal gardens. Constable and Wren, Tolkien, Chaucer, Scott, Bronte, Dahl, and Wodehouse. Blackadder, Black Books, Father Ted (a bit problematic), the King James bible, The Young Ones, The Goons, Mr Bean and Benny Hill, James Bond, Auld Lang Syne. Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Gilbert and Sullivan, the Cornetto Trilogy, Oscar Wilde, John Donne, Gin & Tonic, Dr Who, Sherlock Holmes, Black Mirror, Sapphire and Steel, Queen, Ed Sheeran, Adele, Dua Lipa, The Spice Girls (heh), Jennings and Derbyshire, Just William, Biggles, Jeeves, Wooster, Blandings, Enid Blyton's (a bit racist) Secret Seven and Famous Five, John Wyndham, John Carpenter, Moorcock (Elric and various Eternal Champions), Alice (in/through Wonderland/Looking Glass), CS Lewis (Narnia), Iain Banks, 2000AD, Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, Nemesis the Warlock, Commando Comics, V for Vendetta, The Adventures of Luther Arkwright, the Beano, the Dandy, Viz, Not The Nine O'Clock News, The Fast Show, Would I Lie To You, Eight Out Of Ten Cats Does Countdown, the crytic crossword, Brass Eye, The IT Crowd (also a bit problematic), Toast Of London, The Mighty Boosh, Just A Minute, QI, Mock The Week, Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Ah, no, indeed. I meant John Christopher. Thanks for the spot!
Also like all of those people are dead.
A lot of them are also fictional. Besides, death isn't the handicap it used to be. Oh, Red Dwarf! Plus Blake's Seven, Black Mirror, Inside Number 9, The Inbetweeners, Friday Night Dinner, Peep Show, Spaced, The Detectorists, The Thick of It, Happy Valley, Broadchurch, Luther.
Peaky Blinders. Derry Girls.
And Slow Horses, how could I have forgotten Slow Horses?
Shrewsbury Folk Festival might be for you? Great bands, tremendous beers and ciders, splendid vibe, and Morris dancing throughout the day. A morning of dancing is just the thing to let your hangover ease off to do it all again.
Honestly, I still have hope for him eventually. People are complicated. But I'm ignoring him for a few years. Don't give a shit what his new music sounds like, or anything he has to say. He dropped his apology, now's the time to sit in the background and show the world he means what he says. Words are useless, have to be backed up by actions now. And I'm tired of hearing about his acions. He needs to learn to shut the fuck up for a while.
