Why did you censor the word "French?"

schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de · 30 pts · 115d (7 replies)

It's a fairly widespread Internet meme, I think in order to make fun of France, though I'm not sure exactly where it originated.

eleijeep@piefed.social · 17 pts · 114d (6 replies)

it's not very funny

Elting@piefed.social · 2 pts · 114d (5 replies)

It's extremely funny.

Man you didn’t even see it, we both went up and down before I lost. It was very dramatic. Still I maintain that making fun of the french is easy laughs.

Blisterexe@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 113d (1 reply)

Faut dire que les français passent leur temps a se moquer des anglais, alors il y a quand même une certaine réciprocité.

Elting@piefed.social · 3 pts · 113d

There is balance in all things. Making fun of the English and Americans is equally as funny. So's the dutch and the Portuguese and the Spanish. If at any point your country was an empire, making fun of its people is open game.

You could still pull ahead by Friday!

actionjbone@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 115d (3 replies)

Or are you just not sure how to spell it, so you inserted a placeholder?

Sonotsugipaa@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 16 pts · 115d (2 replies)

It's a glob pattern, it matches "franch", " frbnch", "frcnch", " frdnch" and so on

0xd34d@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 114d (1 reply)

frnch also passes, as does freshjfcgreiheheckygncewdhynch

FauxLiving@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 113d

Maybe someone can get upset by reading that word?

On a serious note, though, on my first semester at graphic design a teacher once told us that some day (here in Bogotá, Colombia) a punk wearing a jacket or something with a struck though swastica waiting for the bus near the uni. Some old lady saw him and the swastica and passed out on the spot. Apparently she was a jewish migrant or something. I never even imagined such things could happen here but the point was to be aware of the things you use in your communications

Must be US people? Because I don't know anyone else who is offended by "fuck" and ok with "f*ck".

Maybe someone can get upset by reading that word?

and by bypassing their filters with idiotic 'censoring', you expose them to it.

merde@sh.itjust.works · 35 pts · 114d

take a look at https://www.laquadrature.net/en/ before you celebrate.

fr*nch don't give a fuck about privacy. Don't confuse national security with privacy. This is happening because U.S. is no longer considered an ally.

artyom@piefed.social · 13 pts · 114d

"Not so bad" at what? They're doing this out of their own interests. It doesn't mean at all that they care about the privacy of their constituents, and in fact they're one of the worst offenders.

DimFisher@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 113d (1 reply)

Don't forget in France the state covers medical insurance, yes they are way better than a lot of things from US, wake up!

DieserTypMatthias@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 113d

If you're studying in Slovakia and have a residence here, the state pays you your pension, health insurance and taxes, so it basically means that you won't end up in debt that easily. I'm pretty sure it works similarly in France. Also you get free train tickets when signing up with Slovak ISIC and when buying tickets for traveling inside the country.

Regardless where you are in the EEA, you're pretty much well off everywhere.
