Please don't link to archive(.ph/.is etc.). The operator abuses their website to ddos other sites.

Unfortunately, there is not a single working alternative for most major newspapers. I have asked many times and no one can provide working alternatives for spiegel.de standard.at and ft.com just ro name a few of the major publications that get posted every day and can't be replaced by other sources in most cases.

poVoq@slrpnk.net · 4 pts · 106d

These publications clearly don't want their articles to be shared 🤷

From feddit.org server rules:

Links to archive.today, archive.fo, archive.is, archive.li, archive.md, archive.ph, archive.vn are not allowed and will be deleted.

So shouldn't the link be removed outright instead of asking?

poVoq@slrpnk.net · 4 pts · 106d

It's a rather new rule and many people are not aware of it yet.

Just one site though and the " alleged" ddos atacks are personal:

"The entire situation revolves around an old blog post published nearly three years ago, in which Patokallio attempted to identify the individuals behind Archive.today."

Has anyone any newer news yet? I thought it was under investigation by LW admin.

When people started digging, all sorts of other problematic stuff about the operator came to light.

HowRu68@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 106d

Ah,. so there was more stuff going on? I'm curious now.

added. something weird is still going on per april. Are we sure this isn't a disinfo campaign? like see here, about wayback machine and here 2, russia blocks archive today.

So... don't post ft-articles or don't help people with the paywall?

thesdev@feddit.org · 2 pts · 106d (1 reply)

Why not copy the article text in the description box?

Ragnor@feddit.dk · 2 pts · 106d

It is copyright protected.

"Where I think it has gone wrong is that fundamentally Britain’s ‘asks’ are still the same,” another EU diplomat says. “They are asking for a ‘reset’ but it’s like old wine in new bottles: asking for being part of those areas of the single market only where they believe they have a competitive advantage. And they do not want to pay.”

So, we'll see how it will go in July.
